Shatterpoint: Death Troopers Vorschau
Atomic Mass Games zeigen eine neue Vorschau für Star Wars Shatterpoint: Death Troopers.
Databank Download: Death Troopers
In the Galactic Empire, Death Troopers were an elite stormtrooper specialized in espionage and exactly what their name suggests. They were frequently assigned to protect and serve directly under high-value Imperial officers or sent on crucial missions for Imperial intelligence. They were clearly identifiable by their black armor and specialized helmets with voice scramblers and advanced technology and sensors to maximize their effectiveness on the battlefield. To the enemies of the Empire, they were death.
As the cream of the crop, the Death Trooper Specialist commands his brethren and serves as a prime example of the best training and equipment of the Galactic Empire. At the start of his activation, the Specialist’s tactic ability Oppression grants a Dash and gives an enemy unit within Range 3 either a Strained or Pinned condition as he rushes forward to force his will onto the enemy. To pair well with the Oppression, the Death Trooper Specialist also brings Imperial Brutality along, an Active ability that allows either the specialist or a Galactic Empire Supporting Unit to Dash and give the Exposed the enemy and themselves. This is especially powerful in conjunction with the Specialist’s own Elite Conditioning, which gives them Protection and immunity to Exposed.
Representing their elite training and fearsome abilities in battle, Unrelenting Assault allows the Death Trooper Specialist to make an additional five-dice attack after making a normal combat action.
The Death Trooper Specialist is equally skilled in Melee and Ranged combat with seven dice, and can potentially deal 7 damage in a single attack, making their additional attack under Unrelenting Assault even more powerful. Most useful, however, might be the ability to generate two Shoves off of only two Successes.
The Death Troopers Supporting Unit may seem less offensively focused than the Specialist, but to the enemies of the Empire they offer just as much of a threat. Their Active ability Tactical Advance grants a Dash to both characters and a free Focus action. This ability is especially powerful because of their Elite Training ability granting Impact[1] and Protection. Imagine two Death Troopers dashing forward and dealing a potent seven-dice Melee attack to two rowdy rebels on an objective point and shoving them both off it.
Their version of Supporting Fire may seem a little bit twisted compared to most versions in Star Wars™: Shatterpoint. Instead of granting an additional damage or condition, the Death Troopers allow the attacking character to Dash as long as the attacking character is within Range 5. This can allow them to get their allies into even more useful positions and maximize their other abilities, like Protective Detail. Since the Death Troopers are frequently used as a protective detail for high-value Imperial officers, this ability grants all Galactic Empire Primary characters within Range 2 with Cover[1], helping ensure they stay alive to continue the strength of the Empire.
Death Trooper Tactics offer a balanced flexibility to the Death Troopers, as you’d expect from the Empire’s finest. They have access to Disarmed, Pinned, and Shove relatively easily, and with 5 Successes can even generate two Shoves and a Dash to regain control points and move to better support their commanders.
