Malifaux: Die vierte Edition geht in die offene Beta
Wyrd Games haben die Beta für die vierte Edition geöffnet.
Malifaux Fourth Beta is Open
Hey Wyrdos,
As you’ve seen from recent updates from us and content creators, there are some characters changing factions in Malifaux Fourth Edition. Lines are being drawn in the sand; allies become enemies, old pacts are tested, and motivations have changed since the Burning Man’s scattering. Here are some snippets about which masters are choosing a single faction and why:
Jack Daw (Resurrectionists)
Ever since Kirai’s ritual to bring back her lost love, something’s been different about Jackie, Jackie, Jackie Daw. The hanged man is still his cruel and tortured self, but there’s more behind those sackcloth-covered eyes than what one might assume. Thanks to catching a glimpse of the realm of the dead, his vexing motives are starting to become clearer and clearer.
Yan Lo (Resurrectionists)
Between the Kimon invasion of Earth, the Burning Man’s shattering, and keeping their criminal operations functioning throughout it all, the Ten Thunders have their hands full. Too full, it seems, to acknowledge Yan Lo’s concerns about the Paths still aflame between worlds. The wratihwalker has taken his leave to tend this problem, even if he must walk this Path alone.
Lucius Mattheson (Guild)
Lucius has his hands full executing the Guild’s new plans. He’s bowed out from the oncoming fight between two queens in favor of doing what he loves: using bureaucracy and complex plans to manipulate others behind the scenes. Plus, humans are delightful playthings, if just as unreasonable as his Neverborn counterparts. Their lavish ways of living are far superior to the wilds of the Knotwoods, and they’re too much fun not to torment.
Charles Hoffman (Guild)
With the last of Ramos’s trapped safehouses secured, Charles Hoffman once more returns to his work full-time at the Amalgamation Office. Parting from the Arcanists was bittersweet; they’re more human than Hoffman expected, and some of them are brilliant. But staunch loyalty keeps the Guild engineer from breaking ties with his oldest and safest employer.
Zoraida (Bayou)
The Neverborn never truly accepted Zoraida as one of their own. Titania’s return (and the weft of Fate set alight by the Burning Man) further soured the swamp witch to any interactions with Malifaux’s monstrous natives. She’s chosen to recuse herself in the Bayou, where she’s concocting new plans in (relative) peace.
Zipp (Outcasts)
For as chaotic as it can be, the Bayou is kind of boring. Pigs, shine, guns… after that, what is there? Zipp’s packed up the Infamy and headed off across Malifaux. He’s got sights to see and adventures to have! Can’t make a name for yourself sitting in the swamp, so Zipp decided it was high time he started doing just that.
Cornelius Basse (Arcanists)
Enough is enough. After years of riding under someone else’s banner and bending to their orders, Cornelius Basse has had it. Tired of chasing someone else’s goals (first for the Guild, then the Explorer’s Society), he’s finally cut ties with both. Now with the Arcanists, Basse is hoping to put his badge and bullets toward something that actually matters. Or so Toni Ironsides would have him believe.
Kastore (Neverborn)
With his niece vying for the Neverborn throne, Kastore sees it as his responsibility to dedicate his focus on those internal affairs. The Broodmaster’s favor is enormously valuable, as are the strange creatures that call his Hushed Copse home. What role will he take in this encroaching conflict?
Marcus (Neverborn)
Since becoming Marcus Witherpeak, the master of the wilds has felt himself become more intertwined with Malifaux. While he no longer considers himself fully human, Marcus embraces what he sees as the next chapter in his evolution. His abilities have also grown significantly, making the chimeric man as deadly as he is useful.
Mei Feng (Ten Thunders)
Her public disagreement with Misaki left a wound on Mei Feng’s ego, but the Oyabun’s commitment to helping Zhong Guo helped it heal. Feng’s Foundry has pulled away from supplying the Arcanists and toward manufacturing constructs and weapons for the war effort on Earth. While a political move, it’s contributed massively to resecuring her workers’ loyalty.
Tiri (Explorer’s Society)
The Aua are a people near extinction. It was through their help that the Explorer’s Society partly accomplished its goal of destroying the Burning Man, and it’s only through them that the nomads remain secret. Tiri doesn’t trust Gretchen Janus, but understands she has precious few allies to call upon in this critical juncture of her people’s survival.
Lucas McCabe (Explorer’s Society)
A man with many former bosses, Lucas McCabe has at last found permanent employment. The Society offered to buy out his rapidly-diminishing contract with the Ten Thunders. Whether the blunder that initiated these talks was planned or not, McCabe’s back to delving for artifacts in the name of discovery.
If you’d like to see a breakdown in Spreadsheet form, look no futher!
You may notice that a few factions are short a keyword. Guess we’ll have to come up with some new crews eventually…
There’s plenty more to uncover. These shifting allegiances are just the beginning, and you’ll be able to explore the full stories and character arcs in the Malifaux Fourth Edition Faction Books. But for now…
The Open Beta is live!
