Sculptor Colin Patten brings a massive Viking Feast of what he considers his best sculpts to date. Over 150 brand new Viking minis covering every troop type you could want and including two full 6 point Saga warbands, a mega interactive shieldwall and a must have collection of characters from your favourite Icelandic Sagas!
Vikings are by far the most popular Dark Age army because they can be used in so many different conflicts and against such a variety of opponents….even on many occasions against each other! As part of the Anglo-Danish army against Hadrada at Stamford bridge, in the internecine wars in Ireland where the original Norwegian invaders known as the „Finngaill‘ were attacked by Danish invaders known as the „Dubgaill“ and again in Norway where the recent convert to Christianity, King Olaf attempted to enforce his new religion on his pagan Earl’s which lead to the epic battle of ‚Sticklestad‘.
This range is suitable for use with SAGA: Age of Vikings (Vikings), SAGA: Age of Magic (The Great Kingdoms).
SHIELDWALLS
Presenting our interactive Dark Age Shieldwall sets. Just begging to be made the centerpiece of your battle board or turned into a diorama masterpiece! Each shieldwall is comprised of ’standing‘ (rear rank) and ‚ready‘ (front rank) positions, both armoured and unarmoured. In addition, there is an 8 pack of ‚Arrow storm defenders‘ which all have their shields at various non-standard heights varying from the foot to way above the head. By mixing these figures you can create some super realistic set pieces! The larger 56 Full shieldwall set includes our hugely popular 16 figure Viking Casualty Set which allows even more exciting combinations to be made!
WARBANDS
Colin has sculpted two 6 point Saga Warbands to represent the two groups of Vikings that warred against each other in Dark Age Ireland and known as the Dubgaill and the Finngaill. All Vikings of that period would have been essentially indistinguishable from each other in appearance and any of the packs shown here can be used to represent any of the different Viking Nations on the tabletop. That said we have tried to capture some subtle differences by making the Norwegian Dubgaill a bit more furry, hairy and Pagan looking and the Danish Finngaill a bit more Christian, neat and orderly. Also the composition of the two Warbands are different from each other, the Norwegian being a standard Viking Saga Warband while the Danish one undergoing a bit of Anglo influence, with an additional 1pt of warriors in place of the usual levy archers and a point of Dane Axe Hearthguard taking the place of the berserkers. Saga Character Sets
Fantastic sets of characters and heroes from the beloved Icelandic Saga Literature, with special emphasis on most peoples favourite ‚Njals saga‘. The burning of Njals Homestead and the Battle of the Althing were the highlights of this book and by adding additional individual packs especially the ‚Icelanders‘ you have everything you need to game these scenarios. We had intended to bring out a resin Icelandic turf homestead model, farm animals and agricultural labourer/slave packs in time for this campaign, however we have decided to forge ahead with this one and it’s our intention to make the „Njals farmestead set“, the centrepiece of our next one! Giving you enough time to get your Icelanders painted up and ready to go!

Gefallen mir echt gut! Zusammen mit den vielen Sculpts von Footsore hat man da eine Menge Auswahl an charaktervollen Minis, wenn man Zinn bevorzugt (was ich persönlich tue) und nicht auf zb Victrix zurückgreifen möchte.
Die Wikinger von GB hatten es ja auch echt mal nötig. Da sind durchaus schöne Modelle bei, aber auch einige, die man echt nicht angucken konnte.
Hübsche Figuren. Doch kann man sie nicht aussuchen. Viele Sets bestehen aus mehreren Modellen wo man dann zufällige Auswahlen bekommt. Schade!
Hier müssen einfach nur genug Leute GB anschreiben und ihrem Wunsch danach, gezielt Einzelfiguren kaufen zu können, kundtun. Dann werden die das in Erwägung ziehen.

Wieso bekommt man zufällige Auswählen? Ich hatte bei GB bisher immer die vier Modelle im Blister, die auf dem Foto abgebildet waren. Warum sollte das jetzt anders sein?
Nur bei den Saga-Boxen mit den 4-6 Punkten gab es zufällige Zusammenstellungen. Das lag daran, dass da einfach der Inhalt von X Blistern in die Box kam und die wohl nicht immer nachhalten wollten, ob sie jetzt Pack A, B, C oder D reingetan hatten.
An den Boxen stand das aber immer ausdrücklich dran.

Ragnarok Miniatures aka Colin Patten ist einfach ein unfassbar begnadeter Sculptor. Ich LIEBE seine komplette Range.
Und das hier sind die mit Abstand besten Wikinger auf dem Markt. Imho auch deutlich schöner, als das, was Footsore demnächst via Kickstarter bringen will (die sind dennoch sehr sehenswert).
Freu mich mega, dass es Collins Range jetzt im Retail gibt, für alle, die de Kickstarter verpasst haben.
Waaas!? Keine Bärenfellen und Hörnerhelme? Das sind doch keine Wikinger!
Ne im Ernst, sehen richtig gut aus. Vlt finden ja ein paar davon den Weg zu mir, als Verstärkung meiner Wikinger für SAGA.

Wenn die 16 Verlustmodelle in einem Set kommen, dann wäre das ja ganz passend für Erschöpfungsmarker für Saga oder HC.
Ich hab die alten Modelle von GB dafür, aber davon gibt es eben nur vier verschiedene.
Die sehen schon cool aus.
Aber die Gripping Beast-Gussqualität hat mir immer missfallen. Zudem war das Metall immer sehr weich und zu wenig „White Metal“ – möglicherweise wegen des Bleianteils. Das wird bei den Modellen hier (leider) auch so sein…
Ich habe heute den kompletten Kickstarter vom Zoll geholt und muss sagen die Qualität ist super. Es ist nicht das härteste Metall aber guter Durchschnitt. Die Figuren werden denke ich entweder von der Patton Familie selbst gemacht oder zumindest selbst beauftragt, also GB ist hier nur der Distributor. Es sind Zinnspeere dabei aber die kann man ja austauschen.
Ich meinte natürlich Patten…
Soweit ich weiß, macht er das alles selbst, mit Hilfe seiner Tochter.
Also wenn ichs richtig verstanden habe, macht er neben dem Modellieren auch das Gießen,
und seine Tochter kümmert sich ums Einpacken, Versenden und die Finanzen.
