August: The Elven Infantry
Hello Everyone,
As you know, we’ve typically used August as our vacation month. This hasn’t changed, but due to popular demand from the community, we’ve decided to revisit our early elf releases and take this time to make them available to you.
Please keep in mind that these are older miniatures. While they still hold up well, there are certainly aspects we would approach differently today.
What’s most interesting is that, despite not being overly complex units, they are completely interchangeable with one another, which makes up for their shortcomings to some extent. In the coming days, we’ll show you models created simply by swapping pieces.
This month features the Elf Spearmen, designed in a phalanx formation. They are the most classic of units, and the entire elf range flows from them. They carry the first dragons as banners, a signature of our shock units.
On the other hand, the Archers were conceived as lighter troops, equipped with leather armor and padded skirts, which have served as a reference for many archer and auxiliary units. In this case, they carry a pennant-type banner, considered inferior to the dragons of the shock units.
To round out the units, we have the Dragon Guard, the first Imperial Kindred unit we sculpted (it was hard to imagine how much the range would develop back then). They are heavier troops with a dragon theme. As a shock troop, they carry dragons as banners, and combined with the spearmen, you can use their bodies to create Dragon Spearmen units.
In the character category, we have quite a few. We start with a Prince designed to also function as a Lord of Knowledge if needed.
He is accompanied by the Prime Draco, the main banner of the Elven Legions, draped in a lion’s skin, inspired by the Roman standards that we find so inspiring.
We also have a version of a Mage on foot, without armor. We often get carried away with armor, and although in many rule sets they don’t use it, they look too good to resist. But in this case, and due to your insistence, you now have one without armor on foot.
There’s also the Lord Commander of the Dragon Guard, designed to lead this unit and serve as a bodyguard to any Elven General who requires it.
Finally, we’ve created a previously unreleased generic Prince, who can serve as a generic hero armed with two swords or a bow.
If this release goes well, next summer we’ll prepare another batch with the remaining physical miniatures from our Elven range.
I hope this month meets your expectations and that you have a fantastic summer.
