A glimpse into Kohana’s daily life:

„Perched on a wobbly column, Kohana nocked an arrow. The half moon shone brightly on the ruins and the streets that ran through them. Kohana loved this moment preceding the fight. Every fiber of his body was filled with an unearthly calm. His third hand adjusted his grip on the column as he gently strung his bow. He made adjustments to his target: the last man in the column.

As usual, the Marshalls had placed the less experienced at the back of the detachment. Did they not know that this is the most dangerous position? The bird’s skull leaned to the right. Perhaps they knew this and wanted to toughen up their young fighters. He stretched his neck and tilted his head to the left as if to chase away one thought and capture another. They were going to lose future warriors tonight. The pulleys slid silently as he increased the tension on his bow. Most shooters would have chosen the lead shot to impress the enemy and eliminate the opponent directly.

Kohana let out a quiet sneer. He was not like most shooters, he was a Raven Warrior: wise and cruel. His arrow hit the bottom of his target’s spine. The scream of pain from his prey mixed with the cry of the Buffalo Warrior who was devastating the vanguard and the hooting of Meowkwani.
