„Istaka raised his glasses on his forehead. There was no wind, no residual dust. His right arm was unbalancing his silhouette, but many moons had passed since he had consumed the sacred Ava. He had grown accustomed to this inhuman gift, and his sharp black claws were part of him. His spear was lying on the ground. He would only grab it once the fight was on. He sniffed quietly. His psychic mind whispered to him that the trap set was not necessarily theirs. The Spirit-Coyote was always wary and Istaka thanked him for it. But there was no surprise in the air or in his sight. The Marshalls, being too confident in their ancient weapons, walked in the open without securing their backs. A mistake they would not make again. Istaka grinned, revealing his sharp canines, because they would not survive this one. The screams broke the night. His brothers had gone on the attack. He waited for another breath and stood up. With a fluid movement, he picked up his weapon and, taking advantage of his momentum, threw it at the most powerful fighter in the room. The latter turned around with an evil smile: the spear was stuck in the dust. This fool would understand too late that she had cut the power supply of her flamethrower. Istaka laughed, totally overwhelmed by the Coyote Spirit, and dove to the left as if frightened. He heard the trigger and saw the gasoline spill down his opponent’s side before igniting. His screams of agony added to the symphony of death. With a gesture, he rushed into the fray: the fight was only beginning.“
