Black Crab Miniatures 7 Pathetic Cavalcade – Doomed Knights
A new set of miniatures for tabletop games, collectors and painters.
For the final campaign of 2024 I am back on Kickstarter with season 7 of Black Crab Miniatures! I have had a extremely busy year on Kickstarter but I could not resist fitting in one last project before 2025 arrives. When I have asked previously, knights have been an oft requested theme but these couldn’t be just any knights, they had to be utterly pathetic to fit with the world that Moritz has created. I’ve had a lot of fun picking out designs from Moritz’s brand new art created for this campaign. Check out his work on Instagram @blackcrabart
Doomed Knights
First up we have the Doomed Knights, a band of decrepit and cursed wanderers in search of a deadly foe.
In addition the the Doomed Knights, I have also decided to include a monster for them to fight. I’m often asked to sculpt monsters and the like for these Black Crab projects so it seemed apt to include one here. I suggested the comical and obscure “Wolpertinger” of German folklore to Moritz and he set about sketching!
The photos here show the Original hand sculpted piece. I will be delivering the finished master to the casters as soon as possible and have allowed a long enough lead time that it will be ready and cast for you in time for fulfilment.
Phot for scale, The Wolpertinger stands on a 50mm cork, it is 40mm to the shoulder and 58mm the the highest point of the wings. When cast as a resin miniature this monster will be in multiple pieces, some of which will be small and fragile so please consider that this miniatures will be suited more to experienced model makers and collectors, some pinning and gap filling will be required to assemble this creature.

Lore
One winter, five knights were found together wandering in the wilderness, they wailed and whispered in turns about a horror. A village devoured by a hybrid beast, an absurd forest amalgam, the strange and fearsome Wolpertinger. They were unable to rescue the villagers and the beast seemingly evaporated into the darkest thickets of the woods.
Nobody believed their preposterous tale and they were confined to the asylum as lunatics, driven to madness by the horrors of war.
After years had passed in confinement, rumours reached the much older and definitely deranged knights. A deadly creature plagued the villages at the forest’s edge. The insane troupe knew in an instant that the wolpertinger had returned. Determined to escape the asylum, this time they will Not let the beast escape…but…they really are deranged…is there even a beast?
Note
Some of these resin miniatures are cast in multiple pieces, some of which are small and fragile so please consider that these miniatures may be suited more to experienced model makers and collectors, some pinning and gap filling will be required to assemble these figures.
