Heresy Thursday – Get Into the Thick of It With Tiny Drop Pods for Legions Imperialis

The Legiones Astartes prefer never to make a soft landing. They strike fast and hit hard, bringing all their armoured advantages to bear on the foe – and when they’re sharing a battlefield with Titan maniples and entire tank companies, they need every edge they can get.

Rapid ingress from orbit, strapped into a quartet of Legion Drop Pods, is definitely one way of bringing that edge to bear…

The Legiones Astartes utilise a number of methods of deployment into hostile war zones – but none are more iconic than the Drop Pod assault. Each pod is a self-contained orbital descent capsule, launched from a spacecraft and searing through a planet’s atmosphere before retro jets fire to slow its descent just enough not to be obliterated upon impact with the surface. Upon landing, a deadly cargo of Space Marines charges directly into the heart of battle.

This kit can also build Deathstorm Drop Pods – an explosive innovation that replaces passengers with rapid firing missile launchers, which lay anti-tank waste to any enemy armour in the vicinity.

What’s really cool about these models is the fact that you don’t have to glue the doors – they’re hinged, and can be opened or closed according to taste.

The forthcoming Legiones Astartes Drop Pods box contains enough parts to build four pods in either configuration. They’ll be available – much like Legions Imperialis itself – sooner than you think!
