Italian Army Weapons Teams – 17,00€

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and light mortar teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.

The Solothurn anti-tank rifle was a cross between a true anti-tank rifle and a light anti-tank gun. Featuring a light wheeled carriage and a magazine-feed, the Solothurn could achieve a rate of fire of up to 20 rounds per minute.

The Italian army had no specialist sniper rifle, and the relatively light-weight Carcano Model 1891 with its small calibre bullet was not ideally suited to the role. However, in the hands of a skilled marksman the weapon would prove deadly enough.

The Brixia 45mm light mortar was a powerful and successful weapon in the hands of properly trained soldiers. Its rate of fire was higher than similar weapons employed by other nations, and its accuracy was also unparalleled.

Japanese Army Weapons Teams – 17,00€

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and flamethower teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.

The lack of anti-tank guns capable of taking on heavier tanks such as the Sherman led the Japanese infantry to develop desperate anti-tank weapons. These often called upon a soldier to take an extreme risk or even to sacrifice his life. The most famous of these was the lunge mine, a shaped charge mounted on a bamboo stick. In other cases, soldiers waited in disguised pits holding an artillery shell they would ram into the bottom of a tank as it passed overhead, or strapped themselves with several magnetic mines or satchel charges and threw themselves upon the enemy vehicle.

Combat engineer units formed a constituent part of every IJA division. They carried explosives for demolition work and attacking enemy fortifications, and were also equipped for mine clearance. Some carried the Type 100 flamethrower that saw action in the early years of World War II in Indonesia and the Philippines.

The jungles of South Asia provided plenty of opportunity for snipers to make their mark, and the Japanese sniper was well served by the Type 97 sniper rifle with telescopic sight. The rifle was especially suited to use by concealed snipers as its small-calibre bullet and long barrel resulted in very little muzzle flash or smoke, enabling the shooter to remain unseen by the enemy.

USMC Weapons Teams – 17,00€

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, anti-tank teams and flamethrower teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.

The American Bazooka was first used in North Africa and on Tarawa in November 1942. The first version (M1A1) had two grips and a wooden support. By 1943 the new version was released which no longer had the front grip but had an improved electrical firing system. The final version was longer (1.55m) and improved the range from 200-250 yards to 300 yards. The M6 HEAT rocket could easily penetrate 76mm of armour at 30 degrees or 110mm at 90 degrees.

The tasks of scouting and sniping were similar in American doctrines. In the US manual it was clearly stated that the duty of a sniper was to kill enemy officers in order to damage the morale of enemy troops. They were equipped with a telescopic sight on a M1903 bolt-action Springfield rifle, and also had close-combat weapons such as pistols and shotguns with which to defend themselves if discovered. Both members of the team had sniper training so the role of spotter was interchangeable.

Flamethrowers were used throughout the war, especially in the Pacific, to clear out tunnels and bunkers. And to open gaps in fortified lines.
