Crooked Dice: 7TV Kickstarter-Ankündigung
Crooked Dice haben bekanntgegeben, im Frühjahr einen Kickstarter für ein neues Regelbuch starten zu wollen.
Das neue Buch soll in Hardcover-Ausführung gestaltet sein und die unterschiedlichen Boxen zusammenfassen, das System aber nicht in eine neue Edition überführen. Die einzelnen Genres(Spi-Fi, Apocalypse, Pulp, Fantasy usw.), sollen dann im VHS-Format erhältlich sein.
In Verbindung mit dem Kickstarter wird ein neues Genre 80er gestartet.
Some exciting changes to 7TV products are coming this year. In the spring we will be launching a kickstarter for a new 7TV Core Rulebook. The rulebooks from all of the previous boxed sets will be replaced by a single hardback rulebook for one definitive ruleset.Like many others, we have suffered from a dramatic rise in production costs over the past couple of years, making it impossible for us to reprint the older games in the boxed format (we now just have stock of 7TV Pulp left). Sadly, these same price rises means it’s just not viable for us to continue with the boxed game format.So we are reconfiguring the 7TV games line this year, moving away from the large game boxes and returning to a core rulebook – with VHS genre packs around the key themes (Spy-Fi, Apocalypse, Pulp, Fantasy etc). That should help keep all the games available, enable us to keep producing new content, while keeping products around the same kind of price point for our loyal customers.That Core Rulebook will be coming to Kickstarter in the Spring along with a new 7TV: The 80s genre pack. Plus we have loads of feature packs in development to support the whole line.To allay any concerns, this isn’t a third edition, more a consolidation of what we have added to the game since the second edition of Inch High Spy-Fi was first released in 2015.The new Core Rulebook is backwards compatible with all existing 2e products, so you can still play with your boxes and existing feature packs without disruption!Plus the new rulebook will also allow new players to enjoy 7TV standalone with access to some new classic genres straight out of the book.We are busy working on this right now: we’re adding new rules for genre and tropes; producing new graphics to help clarify key rules; and cramming in those cool advanced rules like Injuries and Campaign play – plus much much more!Stay tuned!

Finde ich eine sehr gute Lösung, nicht nur angesichts der gestiegenen Preise. Die Boxen sind zwar sehr schön aufgemacht und qualitativ hochwertig, aber sie beinhalten eben auch immer nur Spielmaterialien und sind keine echten Starterboxen mit Miniaturen. Dafür waren sie immer recht hochpreisig. Stattdessen ein generelles Regelbuch für das System einzuführen und für die einzelnen Settings nur noch kostengünstigere Ergänzungen, macht es flexibler und senkt die Anschaffungskosten um auch in andere Settings reinzuschnuppern. Apocalypse habe ich bislang noch nicht, das würde ich mir auf diesem Weg auf jeden Fall kaufen.
Und dass die Regeln gleich bleiben und es keine neue Edition ist, ist auch ein sehr feiner Zug. Viel Liebe für Crooked Dice!
