We all have our solutions to carrying our fantasy football goodies. Some better than others. We spend good money on collecting the latest releases and I found that I did not have a great solution to carrying, and most importantly, protecting my investments. It’s this state of affairs that made me want to design from the ground up a case that could hold most, if not all of what we need to take with us to either league matches or tournaments. And with this, the Thick Skull case was born.
I named these cases Thick Skull for what should be obvious reasons. I don’t want them to just carry what we need, I also want them to protect what we put inside them. So let’s talk about what they can do, what they can hold and what they are made of. There are two variants of the cases, Thick Skull L and Thick Skull XL.
The easiest way to look at the two variants is to establish what side of the fence you sit on when it comes to the rule books. The game we all love to play has in recent years been updated and some lovely shiny hardback books have been created to support it. If you are the type of person who wants the rule books with them at all time, then the Thick Skull XL is for you. If not, then you can opt for the Thick Skull L. Also consider if you own a copy of Dungeon Bowl, because if you do, and you want to be able to carry this around, then the Thick Skull XL will best be suited. The XL, as the name suggests, is larger than its counterpart, around 3.5cm taller, but keeping the same width and length dimensions.
The project first hit the drawing board in early 2021 and has been in development ever since. These cases have been through no less than 3 revisions in an attempt to produce the best case possible, working closely with a fantastic and experienced producer. I’m extremely pleased with how the cases have turned out and proud to put my name to it and introduce you to it today. There really is going to be nothing like it out there and no other producer, from what I can see, comes anywhere close to being able to offer what this case can. This limited edition pledge contains a Thick Skull XL case and comes with two items that are only available to this tier and will never be retailed. The first item is a Black Anodised Special Operations Forces Dog Tag with personalised embossed text. A customised tag displaying your contact details, should your case go missing in action, you can be contacted to organise its return.
The second item is this high quality PVC patch to celebrate your contribution to this unique project. Produced in PVC, a Charlie Victor first, it will be around 100mm x 65mm in size and only be issued to pledger’s at this tier.

Dungeon Bowl Adapter (£8): This Dungeon Bowl Adapter enables you to carry securely your portals, chests, door tiles, scatter and throwing templates. It is designed to be used while your case it outfitted for carrying Dungeon Bowl and fits securely below your miniature foam layer in replacement for the blood bowl pitch. If you select the Thick Skull XL variant you can then fit your dungeon tiles into the lid of the case, along with the hardback rulebook. Thick Skull L users can use the large pocket in the lid to carry the tiles, but less securely than the XL version (see video demonstrations).
Sevens Pitch Adapter (£8): This Sevens Pitch adapter is designed to be used while your case is outfitted to play Sevens. This adapter enables you to carry your smaller pitch, but with all the same protections as the standard size pitch. Made from a higher density foam for maximum protection.
Low Profile Dice Cup (£10): This low profile dice cup are designed to be used with either the Thick Skull L or the Thick Skull XL. In the case of the XL they fit neatly into the lid, in the moulded areas. In the case of the Thick Skull L, you will need to use the specially made ‘Low Profile Dice Cup Miniature Foam Tray’ (available as an add-on) so that they can be securely transported and protected. Price is for single cup.
Low Profile Dice Cup Miniature Foam Tray (£16): This specially designed foam layer is for users of the Thick Skull L. This will enable users to carry two of the Low Profile Dice Cups in their case. Thick Skull XL users already have a space in the lid to carry the cups, so will not benefit from this tray as much as the Thick Skull L users.
Flat Packing Dice Tower and Tray (£20): This dice tower and tray combination has been designed from the ground up to fit these cases. It can be carried in the large pocket of the Thick Skull L or can be inserted into the same space as the rule books slot in the lid of the Thick Skull XL. In the case of the Thick Skull XL, you will reduce the cases ability to carry two rule books to one only.
Dice Hive 90 (£8): I’m fanatical about dice and tracking and storing our collections is of constant concern. For those of you who would like store your D6 dice collections this is the foam for you. Fits within the case in-replacement of your pitch, should you not wish to carry it. Capable of carrying 90 D6 16mm dice.
GW Dice Set Hive & Accessory Tray (£8):Another aspect of my need to collect dice is to collect every release of GW Dice Sets that come with each new team. This foam is designed to carry just that. It’s capable of carrying 11 full sets plus 5 small areas to carry other items in your collections. Replaces your pitch should you not wish to carry it.

These bands have been specially designed to fit around the rim of a 32mm base. The fit is snug and is easy to install and remove with just the right amount of elasticity to hold onto the base while in use. Note that this tailored design means that they are suitable for 32mm bases with a rim depth of around 4mm.
These Skill Bands are made from brightly coloured, durable, silicone rubber with lettering in a legible, contrasting style. Each skill type, such as Agility or Strength has a ‚base‘ band colour, this way you can identify the type of skill just by the colour alone. In addition to this, the skill name is written clearly in embossed text in a contrasting colour, such as white or black. For those skills that crop up again and again – such as Block, Dodge and Wrestle – I’ve made them stand out even further by giving them an extra burst of colour commonly used within the fantasy football community, recognisable at a glance, both by colour and name, and should help remove in-game confusion or the need to remember what colour is what skill.

Longing for a weighty feel to my modern miniatures has driven me to design and develop this new and unique product – Heavy Metal Miniature Bases. Not only do these products produce a satisfying weighty feel, they also give a premium look to one of the most overlooked aspects of finishing your miniatures.
There are three sizes available; 25mm, 32mm and 40mm. On the underside of each base is an indicator for prone and stunned statuses. When you install your miniature to the base, you can set it up to help indicate the status of the miniature when placed down on the pitch. These bases also feature a ‘colour ring trench’ which you can fill with colour if you decide to match a team colour or use to indicate the players positional, such as Blitzer or Catcher.
A beautiful translucent D16 in blood red with white infill colour icons, and a 16mm D6 in bright white with blood red colour infill. This D16 is a custom-made dice, and the icons will be part of the dice mould. This means no laser engraving is required; just crystal-clear designs with solid colour fill.
Shipping:
I know from experience that shipping costs are a huge factor in backers decision making when it comes to KickStarter campaigns. I’ve researched this subject quite extensively and can confirm the following details.
The shipments will come from the UK direct to you. I looked at the option to ship direct from the factory in China to you the customer. Overall there was no saving and in most cases was more expensive, not lower. This option also meant that I would not be able to check and make sure the product is perfect before you receive it or offer you any discounted products as add-ons which form a large part of the funding on these campaigns. You would also be subject to the same import and handling fees as you will be coming from the UK, so there is nothing I can see that is of any advantage to you with this option.
Since the UK left the EU Single Market this has meant that both UK and EU residents have now had to pay VAT and Handling Charges on imports, based on the value. This sucks for small businesses and it sucks for end users. I won’t get into the politics of this, but will say that it’s something we all have to try and get used to because it is the same experience for everyone now, I hate it, but here we all are. The size and weight of the cases mean that I will not be able to use Royal Mail for shipments internationally because they are over 2kg when packed up in the box etc. I’m looking at DPD & Parcel Force to be the couriers of choice. These guys have a good reputation and from what I can see offer the cheapest option in terms of cost per shipment. I have listed below the costs for the shipping so you can see for yourself. In the past I have treated the EU as one shipment zone, but it seems that the prices change quite a bit dependent on your location, so please do check the list below and don’t assume that your costs are the same as someone else.
*Norway seems to be the only location that demands the handling fee paid up front.
