The Horus Heresy: Iron Warriors und Szenario
Die eiserne Legion, die Iron Warriors, erhalten ebenfalls zwei Upgrade-Sets für die MK VI Space Marines für den Kampf während der Horus Heresy und ein Szenario gibt es auch noch.
Heresy Thursday – Iron Warriors Upgrades Showcase the Future of Warhammer Fashion
It’s a little-known fact that – as well as being the galaxy’s finest siege troops – the Iron Warriors were all-star trendsetters. While the rest of the Legiones Astartes experimented with accessories like laurel wreaths and stubby horns, the IV Legion knew exactly where the next 10,000 years of fashion were heading – skulls.
The Iron Warriors plastered this macabre death-mask on everything from their Legion armourial to their most advanced automata, to underline their grim, unflappable outlook. Skulls might grin, but Iron Warriors don’t. Even the Loyalists in their ranks got in on the iron mask action, like poor old-beyond-his-years Barabas Dantioch.
This set of 11 resin heads allows you to accessorise and upgrade your own sons of Perturabo with an extra twist of Legion flair. On top of nine skull-faced helmets in three different designs, there’s a cyborg bare head and an appropriately-decorated helm for officers – why waste bolter shells when you can recycle them into a fancy crest?
Although designed for the new Mark VI Space Marines, these heads will work just as well on any mark of power armour. But why stop there? Shoulder pads are a perfect canvas for eye-catching customisation, and a large sculpted Legion icon really pops against a black pauldron.
Show the Lord of Iron you’re one of his most dependable minions valued subordinates with this pack of 10 resin shoulder pads, usable on almost any Space Marine model. Both upgrade sets are coming later this year.
This Free Horus Heresy Mission Sees Ghastly Word Bearers Procurators Descend on the Blood Angels
The brand new edition of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy is here, and everyone we know is building their Legions to engage in desperate battles in the 31st Millennium.
Once your army’s all built up, not only can you play one of the many missions in the Age of Darkness rulebook, but there are also eight free Exemplary Battles mission packs that recreate key conflicts from the Horus Heresy, including the Battle of Armatura, the Battle for Kalium Gate, and more.
These scenarios also contain rules for renowned units from the lore, which you can then field in battles yourself. Our very own Warmaster Andy Hoare is here to tell us more about the Scouring of Gilden’s Star, where the Word Bearers and their Procurators mounted a vicious assault on the Blood Angels.
Andy H: With the new edition of the Age of Darkness rules now out in the wild it’s time to continue our exploration of apocalyptic future-historical warfare with the next instalment in our latest Exemplary Battles series.
This time we’re looking at a battle that’s been in the Horus Heresy canon since 1989, when it first appeared as a historical scenario in the original Space Marine battle game. It would be another 25 years before this event was next mentioned, when it made an appearance within the timeline of The Horus Heresy Volume 6 – Retribution.
Now, it’s time to explore this event in even greater detail, and in line with all our previous Exemplary Battles we’ve included a new unit and scenario for commanders to play with. We hope you enjoy it!
Many thanks Andy! This mission introduces the Procurators of the XVII Legion, a unit that bears the markings of the Apothecarion. These gruesome sawbones aren’t in the business of lending medical aid, and instead pick over the battlefield like vultures, harvesting the organs of their foes for use in dark rituals.
When they’re knee-deep in viscera they offer bonuses to friendly models with Harbinger of Chaos, Diabolism, or Anathema Psychic Disciplines, plus they score extra Victory points for removing casualties in Sweeping Advances. You can build your own by combining bodies from the Legion MkIV Tactical Squad and upgrades from the Space Marine Apothecary Set – and a few decorative skulls for good measure.
Put them to good use as you play out some red-on-red violence in the Defiance at Hezzar Legendary Mission, which you can find in the Exemplary Battles Pack below, along with a complete Procurators unit entry.
