Papelotte Farm formed part of the advanced defensive positions toward the centre-left flank of the Duke of Wellington’s army at Waterloo on the 18th of June 1815.

As the battle raged men of the King’s Dutch Brigade defended until their ammunition ran out. Although the French would finally take the position late in the day, within a few hours it was back in Prussian hands.

Papelotte Farm although damaged and partially burnt down still stands today and is now the home of the Poney club de la Papelotte.

The Sarissa Precision Papelotte Farm set is perfect for Napoleonic games such as Black Powder. In fact, the farm and buildings when used separately are representative of many similar buildings in the region and will work perfectly for many World War Europe period locations.

Plancenoit church is situated in what was a key strategic village on Napoleon’s centre-right flank during the battle of Waterloo, 18th June 1815.

The scene of heavy fighting Plancenoit and its church was the focal point of the Prussian’s successful flank attack on Napoleon’s army.

Repaired, the church still stands today, making this kit not only the perfect addition to any Napoleonic War campaign but also alongside our World War Europe 15mm range for any Eurocentric wargames set in WWI and WWII.

From where the Duke of Wellington stood, on the extreme right were the chateau, garden and orchard of Hougoumont, a large and well-built country house. On his extreme left was the walled farm of Papelotte. Both Hougoumont and Papelotte were fortified and garrisoned anchoring his flanks securely. On the western side of the main road and in front of the rest of Wellington’s line, was the garrisoned farmhouse and orchard of La Haye Sainte. Due to these iconic buildings and his force’s positioning, it presented a formidable challenge to any attacking force.
