Announcing Lion Rampant and Xenos Rampant
We are incredibly excited to announce two of our upcoming wargames for 2022. So get ready to give your miniatures a fresh coat of paint! We have been working closely with the wargame veteran Daniel Mersey on something classic and something new. Let’s take a closer look…
„Dan was the very first creator to design a game for the Osprey Wargames series, going on to write (or co-author) a further five! He’s what I think of as a “gamer’s designer” – his games are accessible, interesting, and make for challenging, memorable, and entertaining battles. They’re the kind of games you can’t help but want to play. We are thrilled to be publishing a new, expanded edition of Lion Rampant, and hope to see many more retinues marching across tabletops very soon. We are also incredibly excited to announce Xenos Rampant, designed by Dan and co-author Richard Cowen. This project started years ago with Richard’s homebrewed Sci-Fi hack of Dragon Rampant and has since grown and evolved into something really special. Whether you want bug-hunts or boarding actions, weird wars or wasteland warriors, Xenos Rampant has you covered.“ – Philip Smith, Osprey Games
LION RAMPANT: SECOND EDITION
21/7/2022
Daniel Mersey
An expanded edition of the Origins Award-nominated Lion Rampant, featuring new rules, scenarios, and sample armies.
Take to the battlefield as Richard the Lionheart, Joan of Arc or William Wallace – or forge your own legend – with Lion Rampant: Second Edition. From the Dark Ages to the Hundred Years’ War, raids, skirmishes, and clashes between small retinues were a crucial part of warfare, and these dramatic small-scale battles are at the heart of this easy-to-learn but tactically rewarding wargame.
Lion Rampant: Second Edition is a new, updated version of the hit Osprey Wargames series title, and retains the core gameplay while also incorporating a wealth of new rules and updates from several years’ worth of player feedback and development. Whether they are looking to recreate historical encounters or tell their own stories, the varied scenarios, unit types, and sample retinue lists found in this volume provide everything players need to face each other in quick, exciting, and, above all, fun tabletop battles.„This second edition of Lion Rampant is expanded to cover the Dark Ages as well as the Medieval period, so you have a good excuse to buy more miniatures! I’ve also added extra scenarios and expanded the campaign ideas, given greater details for terrain, included a chapter of optional rules for more period flavour, and provided some new unit upgrades. The core rules have a few updates, but it’s still Lion Rampant as you know it – something that was very important to me is that any army you raised for the first edition is still playable using this new edition.“ – Daniel Mersey
XENOS RAMPANT
24/11/2022
Daniel Mersey &
Richard CowenScience Fiction wargame rules for large skirmishes, based on the popular Rampant system.
Xenos Rampant is a setting agnostic, large skirmish, miniature wargame for fighting science fiction battles using 28mm figures.
Developed from the award-winning ruleset Lion Rampant, the core mechanics featured within will be instantly recognisable to those familiar with the other Rampant systems, while still being accessible to new players. Xenos Rampant contains all the rules, army lists, and scenarios required to fight science fiction battles as well as a whole host of subgenres including: raygun gothic, post-apocalyptic, weird war, near future. So, whatever your science fiction preference, the rules can cover it – just let your imagination run rampant.
„We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved with Xenos Rampant, not least in that we’ve created a game that covers platoon-level skirmishes in a wide array of Science Fiction settings – from dieselpunk and weird war, through the modern day, to the post-apocalypse and the depths of space – and managed to fit it all in one book. Oh, and did we mention zombies? We’ve taken the tried-and-tested game system of Dragon Rampant, vastly expanded it for advanced technologies and tactics, and provided a toolkit of optional rules to customise the style of game however a group of players might wish. Most importantly, this isn’t simply Dragon Rampant with lasers – it’s a whole new set of rules for Sci-Fi combat.“ -Daniel Mersey & Rich Cowen

Da freue ich mich sehr drauf. Bin zwar was Fantasy und Historische angeht wieder etwas weg von der Rampant Familie, aber mit Xenos hoffe ich dass mal wieder ein Teil von der 40K Sammlung den Tisch sehen wird.
Ja. Genau das hoffe ich auch. Bring back the dun in gaming!
Mist….natürlich fun! 🙂
