Moonstone, the whimsical fantasy skirmish game, returns with a new expansion book featuring campaign rules and more!

Moonstone is a tabletop skirmish game for 2-4 players, set in a wonderfully whimsical storybook world, where players must position their miniatures carefully, play tricks and mislead their opponents to win. As well as a unique fairytale aesthetic, Moonstone keeps all players constantly involved in the action and has some truly original mechanics not seen before in miniature skirmish games, using unique card decks to resolve magical attacks and combat.

If you want to give the game a try then you can do so — absolutely free! The core rules, cards and even paper standees (to print and use in place of miniatures) are available on our website downloads page.

You can also get a live and interactive demo via our Tabletop Simulator Mod every Wednesday night. Try the game yourself or just watch a live stream to get an idea of how it all works. Just ask on our Facebook Players Group or Moonstone Discord for a demo. We are blessed with the friendliest player community you are ever likely to find. The members in either group will gladly answer any questions and help you get started!

Goblin King Games have successfully delivered three Moonstone Kickstarters before so you can have complete confidence in your pledge. And to ensure a really rapid turn-around for this campaign we have done almost all the work ahead of time; the cards have all been designed, including the beautiful new artwork, moulds have been made for the miniature and the book content is 90% complete. We are running this Kickstarter to help fund the significant upfront costs involved in the printing of the rulebook. Talking of the book…

The Arising is a gorgeous expansion book for Moonstone and is included in all pledge levels.

Our ‚New Player‘ pledge levels also include our original rulebook and both books can be bought separately as add-ons to any pledge level.

We have been lovingly working on The Arising book for over two years and it has grown to 176 pages of must-have content including:

• Campaign rules for Moonstone (more on this below).
• Minor in-game rules expansions and clarifications around terrain and elevations, removal from play, running out of cards and optional game-play variants.
• 50+ pages of narrative over 14 chapters that progress the Moonstone storyline and reveal dark secrets in what seemed like a once peaceful land.
• 10 new scenarios to expand your casual and narrative play.
• Rules and biographies for 55 characters including some that are currently unreleased.
• A miniatures gallery and dozens of in-game action photography.
• Brand new full page art.

Campaign Rules

We can’t wait for you to try out the  Moonstone campaign rules for yourself! Just like the core game, the campaign introduces innovative mechanics to allow players to engage in a sneaky (and at times back-stabbing!) meta-game on the days outside of game night.

As well as being great fun, this ‚game-outside-the-game‘ powers a handicapping system that keeps all games close and ensures all players have a chance to claim victory right until the end. You can hear Moonstone designer Tom Greenway discussing the rules in depth on Mooncast Episode 35 (a Moonstone podcast).

All pledge levels also include a brand new 106 card deck. Although the deck is primarily designed to support campaign play, it can equally be used to add variety and spice to your casual games.

70 Campaign Cards

Campaign cards are the successor of Events & Agendas cards of old. They are designed to add drama and variety to games, as well as a handicapping mechanic to keep campaign games closely fought until the very end. There are cards for all three factions as well as special ‚Elrich machinations‘ that can be used by any faction (in campaign games only).

36 Upgrade Cards

One of the best things about campaigns is seeing your beloved troupe develop and that’s exactly what you will be able to do thanks to a brand new card type – Upgrades.

These cards can also be used outside of campaigns in friendly games. We think casual players will love the new list building challenges unlocked by these cards.

Backers of this Kickstarter have exclusive access to the limited edition Diana Enraged miniature.

Diana Enraged can be used in a special scenario included in The Arising book using a super-powered stat card supplied with the miniature, or simply as an alternate sculpt for a standard Diana Queen of the Fae in your competitive games. While her fae body is small and dainty, this miniature will tower above the lesser races on the tabletop because of her truly epic scenic base.

The miniature is cast in just four pieces and is remarkably simple to assemble. This year we’ve moved over to a new casting company, resulting in a marked improvement in production quality and you can be assured the detail on this miniature will be second to none.

Our catch-up pledges are designed for new players who want to jump into Moonstone. There are discounted bundles from our back-catalogue along with all the new and exclusive items available in this Kickstarter. Of course, if you’re a veteran player then why not top-up your collection with an entire new faction, we won’t stop you…

We will charge Postage & Packing after the Kickstarter, based on the actual costs, via our pledge manager after the campaign ends.
