A Spanish tercio prepares for a tough fight with Louis’s French legions at Seneffe, during the Franco-Dutch War. The French won the battle but the Spanish showed their tercios still had a lot of fight left in them.

Danish infantry command of the Scanian War. That war was initiated by Louis XIV as a diversion, to keep Brandenburg, a strong ally of the Dutch, from helping the Dutch when Louis invaded. Louis bought the Swedes’ alliance and promise to attack Brandenburg.

And so they did, but the ensuing war in the East, which involved another ancient enemy of the Swedes, Denmark, proved that the Swedish military juggernaut had this time bit off more than it could chew. The Danes covered themselves in glory and the battle of Fehrbellin is often considered to be the birthplace of the Prussian Army.

These models have the cuff further up the sleeve and are meant to portray the Spanish, Danish, and other forces who had some regiments wearing this French-inspired fashion. Yes, I know the drummer should have a yellow coat with red facings — he’s very brave and has received a field promotion to officer status.

Coming soon. These are not the next releases, however — next will be flintlock foot, militia for Sedgmoor and Vienna and so on, and American colonial militia for King Philip’s War.

On this the anniversary of the Battle of Vienna, when an Imperial and Polish allied army saved Vienna from Ottoman conquest, I thought I’d show a sneak peek of our upcoming Poles for our Late 17th century range in 15mm. There will be a full array of both mounted and foot, and best of all they’ll be completely compatible with our extensive late 17th century European range as well as our extremely popular Ottomans. Look for these toward the end of the year. Na wroga!

We are very pleased to release the 28mm Nova Respublik range. Only the Red Banner has been available for the past few years, but we have now released the Yozhik IFV, the Drakon next-gen tank, the fire support robots, and three codes of Nova infantry as well. Available now:
