Dark Ages: Kickstarter endet
The solo mode for Dark Ages is being prepared by Dávid Turczi. Featuring an automated opponent, this automa-style bot will create an interactive challenge for the best of strategists. If you want to know more click here, or simply check out Update #2.
Dark Ages is a Crowdfunding Limited project. Aside from the Kickstarter campaign (and possible campaigns run by our partners, including Spieleschmiede campaign for the german version of Dark Ages), it will see an extremely limited distribution outside of current crowdfunding. The English version of Dark Ages will never be distributed through stores like other games, and will be available for a short time only from retailers that pledge for copies during this campaign.

Each of the two Dark Ages boxes – Holy Roman Empire and Legacy of Charlemagne – is a full and complete game that can be played with 1-4 players. While the rules for both games are the same, each features unique content:
Unique rulers based on key historical figures from the regions represented in that particular box.
Unique buildings and commanders, allowing you to construct the most iconic buildings and ally with great military leaders of the medieval times.
Unique maps offering different strategic options and play in two different regions of medieval Europe…
…and an ability to combine the boards, leaders, technologies, buildings and more to create a real monster game that can be played with up to 8 aspiring emperors ready to leave their mark on all of Europe!
How to play:
Dark Ages uses an innovative system of actions and reactions. On your turn:
Place a Noble disc on one of five Actions. Use the selected Action to:
Build a new City, Church, Farm, Production Building or Special Building in one of your Provinces.
Recruit a new Unit in one of your Cities.
Take a new card from the Culture Board into your hand.
Research a new Technology or raise an existing one to a higher level.
Manoeuvre your Units to battle barbarians or your opponents.
Once your Action is done, if the stack contains 3 discs, slide the bottom one out to perform one of 2 available reactions. Yes, it is possible that it will be your disc!
Regroup your armies, gain resources, trade, perform a cultural exchange or recruit new Units. It’s always your turn, even if it’s not your turn!
A playtest version of the rules (on Google Drive) is available here.

The base game of Dark Ages is a complete, epic experience, which can still be customized to your personal taste and the preferences of your gaming group with Modules: micro expansions that can be added together or separately to change how you play in different ways.
Would you like to employ the most cunning and brave warriors of the Medieval Era? This module allows you to choose a Commander that will lead your armies, offering you their unique special ability which activates whenever you do battle.
How about the opportunity to construct iconic landmarks of Medieval Europe. With this Module you will see incredible structures rise on your game board, providing you with their special abilities.

Dann lieber Europa Universalis.
