Icarus Miniatures: Farewell to…
Icarus Miniatures wird in Zukunft keine Miniaturen mehr verkaufen – sondern Anto wird sich auf andere Projekte konzentrieren.
Farewell Icarus Miniatures
Greetings folks,
I’ve got an unfortunate announcement to make today. I’ll talk in depth about the situation later in this post, but I’ll start with the „official“ announcement:
Dear Gamers,
I regret to announce that from the 5th of April 2019, Icarus Miniatures will no longer be selling our line of wargaming miniatures and accessories.
From today (01-03-2019) until April 5th, all miniatures and accessories in our range will be on sale while stocks last. https://www.icarusminiatures.com/shop
I want to thank all my customers from the last 3 and a half years who have shown their support and love for the range from the bottom of my heart.
I hope you follow me to the next stage of this adventure – more on that to come…
Much love, Anto
How did we end up here?
For those that care for more than just the official announcement, I want to talk about how we ended up here, and what the future holds. The last 18 months have been a struggle to say the least!
In 2016 I ran a Kickstarter to fund the Alliance and Nexus starter sets. The Kickstarter was a success and brought in enough money to fulfil the project and left enough to fund a new round of sculpts.
However, during the fulfilment of the Kickstarter we experienced an unexpected delay which had a knock-on effect and resulted in many months of multiple products being out of stock. The drop in sales during this period meant the capital left from the Kickstarter was used up and meant no new models have been made since that time.
Since then, the miniatures side of the business has been treading water, and I was only able to continue operating due to other revenue sources like the design studio and YouTube.
During 2018, the design studio made great progress and became the primary source of revenue for the business, with YouTube being about on par with miniature sales in the last 6 months.
So instead of hanging on with the miniature line, I have decided to end it for the foreseeable future to put more focus on the other elements of the business.
It was a very difficult decision. Icarus Miniatures has been my baby for so many years, and I kept putting off the decision out of sentimentality for far too long.
But as we head into the new financial year, I’ve decided it’s time to make a change.
The Icarus Project IP isn’t going anywhere – I am still in love with the universe the game took place in, and have plans on how to explore that universe in other ways, but the miniatures will no longer be available for sale after April 5th.
The Icarus Project Skirmish Wargame will continue to be available to download as a PDF, but there are no plans to update it in the near future.
Family First
Another big factor in this decision is family. Over the last few months I’ve had to take time off to take care of family members, and I’ve found myself stretched incredibly thin tending to all the responsibilities, so hopefully not having the stress of this side of the business will give me more emotional energy for family and loved ones.
The Future
The future is bright for Icarus, though, and I have several goals for this year. Firstly, I will be putting more focus into the design studio, offering sculpting services to individuals and other businesses. This means more active advertisement and contacting potential clients. Secondly, I will be focusing more on the Icarus Games YouTube channel, making some new and exciting content! And finally, I would like to publish a print product before the end of the year. I have several ideas I would like to explore, both for Roleplaying Games and Wargames.
So even though this is the end for the miniatures, it isn’t an end for Icarus, and I’m not going anywhere.
With these changes in mind the business will be going through a re-brand to become Icarus Games – a name which better reflects what I’m hoping to do moving forward.
A new website will go live in early April, with lots of exciting new projects coming in the months that follow.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who has supported me over the last few years, and if I could leave you with one suggestion – make sure to support your favourite small mini manufacturers! I know that it’s not just Icarus that has had a hard time of it in the last year, and your purchase can make all the difference to small independent producers, so buy the models that you love!
Until next time Anto

Tolle Sculpts. Besonders die Aliens. Sympathischer Typ.
Hätte mich über mehr gefreut.
Nun ja.
Good luck with the new projects.
Danke für die (traurige) Nachricht. Hab mir heute morgen gleich noch zwei Feral Nexus gesichert, bevor sie weg sind. 🙂
