Herr der Ringe: Dunländer Verstärkung und mehr
Etwas verpätet aber dennoch. Bei dem Throne of Skulls Event gab es einige Neuigkeiten zum Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game.
The Wrath of Dunland™!
As the War in Rohan heats up the Evil forces arrayed against the Riddermark can expect some serious reinforcements.
First up are the fighting elite of Dunland – the Dunlending Huscarls. These gorgeous Warrior models are all armed with hefty war axes and clad in heavy armour. They’re the perfect pick as bodyguards for Dunlending Chieftains and lords, and when arrayed around their masters will be a match for even the Royal Guard of Rohan!
The Dunlendings are well-known for their raids into Rohan to steal horses… and this is the result. The new Dunlending Cavalry models look utterly brilliant, have Strength 4, and are experts at taking out enemy mounts, so they’re sure to be a popular choice for fighting against the Horse-lords.
More Dunlending models are also on the way in the form of the Heroes of Dunland, Gorûlf Ironskin, Frída Tallspear and The Wild Man Oathmaker.
Gorûlf is a killing machine capable of mixing it up against the best Rohan has to offer – just wait till you see what his Ironskin ability can do! Frída is an anti-cavalry leader who can take the punch out of even the most determined charge. Finally, The Wild Man Oathmaker is that madman in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers™ movie who makes a pact with Saruman (yep, he even cuts his hand open) and offers to die for the White Wizard’s cause. When he’s in your force, your Dunlending Wildmen go from being a surly, unwashed rabble to being a surly, unwashed rabble who are also Fearless. Sweet!
Play Your Cards Right
When the Middle-earth Profile Cards were released a few months back, they sold out faster than Gríma Wormtongue to a rogue Istari. Fear not, they’re being reprinted soon and these cards will be the same, despite the different packaging. So, if you missed out the first time, and want to get your mitts on these super-handy gaming accessories you’re in luck. We’ll bring you more details when we have them.
Game, Set, Match!
The last tidbit from the seminar was the revelation that the Middle-earth team have finished work on a new, soon-to-be-released volume – the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Matched Play Guide.
This nifty little tome is loaded with rules and advice for organising and running Matched Play events. It’s stacked with scenarios and promises to be the gold standard for Organised Play and will be used not only at official Middle-earth events but at top-quality tournaments across the globe. We’re excited to see more of what this Matched Play guide has to offer, so keep an eye out here for updates.

Mega cool! Seit wirklich langer Zeit Mal wieder eine HdR Veröffentlichung, die einen -Haben Will- Reflex in mir auslöst.
Sehr schön. Und wieder sehr schade, dass HdR Minis einen eigenen Maßstab haben.
Weil Du sie mit Deiner Plastikbox modden willst? Das ist schade, aber sehr, sehr viel aus dem historischen Bereich geht sehr gut mit HdR.
IIRC musste GW die damals inkompatibel zur eigenen Serie machen, und es durften bei Golden Demons aus den selben Gründen auch keine Teile zwischen HdR und Warhammer gemischt werden.
An sich ist der Maßstab in der Serie nämlich schön konsequent und kommt m.W. nach auch ohne Scale Creep aus.
Ach, nichtmal modden. Ich würde auch so schon gerne manche Minis einsetzen. Historisch spiele ich nur leider nicht.
Ja, das wusste ich auch damals schon.
Es gab in der 6. Edi Vampire ja die Option für Gespenst auf Pferd, aber kein Modell und hab dann berittene Ringgeister gekauft und mich dann informiert.
Ist eine bescheuerte Maßnahme des Lizenzgebers gewesen. Ich wette, man hätte mehr Figuren verkaufen können.
@Eikant: Hm also ich finde den gewählten Maßstab eigentlich sehr gut und kann mit HdR kaum km 28/30mm Maßstab vorstellen.
Herr der Ringe ist 28mm Truescale.
Das ist tatsächlich ein Problem. Schön ist allerdings, wenn man sich vom Warhammer Comic Look lösen kann, dass all die schönen, neuen Plastiksets verschiedener Hersteller oft gut mit HdR funktionieren.
