Who We Are

First Legion has long been a leading producer of 1/30th scale superbly hand painted historical metal and resin figures as well as metal and resin figures kits in various scales. Please visit our historical figures website to see the quality of our products.

It’s important to note that we work a bit differently than many companies when it comes to the process to achieve the artistry of our figures.    Our „concept“ drawings are really only a functional guide providing our digital artists with a general look of what we are trying to achieve.   It’s during the digital sculpting phase where the main part of the artistry occurs.

Invariably, our Sculpts and the resulting resin figures are far superior to the line drawing concept work from which they originate as our sculptors are the true artists in the process.

As our Kickstarter contains many figures for which the 3d modeling has not yet been done, we feel that it’s important not only to explain this, but to show some examples of what we’re talking about.   As you can see from the images below, the concept work is just that.  A general concept.   The resulting final figure is far superior.  Please bear this in mind when viewing the contents of the KS – if you like the images we show of the figures we have already modeled and/or painted up, you will like the figures that result from the concept art!

Extremely High Quality Resin Castings  

Our fantasy figures are superlatively sculpted and produced in extremely high quality casting resin (similar in properties to PVC plastic but with superior detail).  We understand that many folks are a bit leery of purchasing figures of only images of 3d Models.  This is one of the reasons that we have modeled so many of the figures in advance and made casts of them,  so that we can clearly show the quality of what you will receive when backing our Kickstarter.     Here the highlights:

• ​Extremely high quality casting resin with properties similar to ABS plastic, but more highly detailed.
• Vacuum cast with high quality silicon molds.  NOT spin cast, which is cheaper and much faster for production, but lower quality result.
• Paint ready when you receive them, NONE of the oily release agents that can be found on poorly produced resin figures

As we have already modeled many of the figures, we had some of them painted up to show you examples of what can be achieved with the final figures you will receive once you start painting them up.    A picture is worth a thousand words as they say, so don’t take our word for it, just have a look.   And just to repeat so there is no confusion, all figure rewards are provided unpainted and unassembled except where specifically noted otherwise.

The figures are Heroic Scale 28mm being on the larger end of what is considered 28mm. They would be more accurately described as 32mm (sole to eyes) for humans. Goblins, Orcs, etc. are purposely done in a size and style of our own with the Orcs in particular being large brutish fellows at about 38mm tall to the top of the heads. Our figures are compatible in size with figures from companies such as Games Workshop and Reaper to name a few and below is a side by side photo showing a few of our figures next to a few Reaper Bones figures. Ours are a little bigger I think, but not so much so that they wouldn’t work together.

We have organized our Project into 12 Core Sets, add-on sets which are grouped as small sets or available as individual figures, and „Free Stretch Goal“ Rewards.   Relative to the quality of sculpting and castings, it’s really a great deal.

Core Sets

There are a total of 12 Core Sets.   Each Core Set is $50 and the number of core sets you choose corresponds to your Pledge Level.
Further, if you choose 6 or more Core Sets, the pledge amount required decreases by a further 10% to $45 for each Core Set.   So while 5 Core Sets requires a $250 Pledge Level, 6 core sets requires only a $270 Pledge Level and so on up the pledge ladder.

We have nearly 2 more full core sets worth of „Freebie“ Stretch Goal figures and accessories, so the more successful the project is, the more miniature rewards are available for everyone who pledges „Orc Level“ and above. If funding passes the amounts listed below, the reward for that amount will be unlocked and displayed. And just to be clear, these are absolutely Free if they are „unlocked“. So spread the word!

* Pledge Levels below „Orc Level“ do not receive the unlocked Freebies. We’d like to, but the economics simply don’t make it viable. Only Core Set Rewards determine Pledge Levels, add-on sets are not counted towards reaching Orc Pledge Levels.
