Battlestar Galactica: Starship Battles – Erweiterungen
The first expansions and accessory for the combat miniature game Battlestar Galactica – Starship Battles, based on the Battlestar Galactica™ TV series, are due to release in February 2019: five Spaceship Packs – two versions of the Viper MK.II and three of the Cylon Raider – and a set of additional control panels.
Battlestar Galactica – Starship Battles hit the shelves in December, with the release of the Battlestar Galactica — Starship Battles Starter Set.
New Spaceship Packs will allow players to add more spaceships to the game. Each Spaceship Pack includes a ready-to-play model – painted and assembled, spaceship card, gaming base, maneuver deck and a set of pilot cards. The first release includes different versions of Vipers and Raiders.
The Viper is the primary space superiority fighter/attack craft of the Colonial Fleet. At the time of the First Cylon War, the Mark II was designed specifically for use with the Colonial Battlestars. While later superseded by newer models, the presence of Vipers on the Galactica proved essential to surviving the new Cylon attack. The Viper MK. IIViper MK.II Spaceship Packs include a „generic“ version of the MK.II and the one commanded by Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, the fleet’s most talented, passionate and rebellious Viper pilot. This model presents her callsign and includes her pilot card and skill car is fast and maneuverable, able to operate effectively both in space and in atmospheric combat. Armed with kinetic energy weapons, it is also capable of mounting missiles and other ordnance.
The primary Cylon assault craft, the Raider, was first encountered during the destruction of the Twelve Colonies. The ship is actually a bio–mechanical, self–aware living creature, with a complex system of organs, veins and biological fluids inside its main body. The Cylon Raider is armed with two kinetic energy guns, and it may sometimes carry conventional and nuclear missiles. Capable of FTL jumps, Raiders are also very maneuverable and hard to keep in sight for more than a few seconds.
The models featured in the Spaceship Packs are a generic Cylon Raider; one captured and flew back to the Galactica by Kara “Starbuck” Thrace (with her callsign added under the wings with adhesive tape), including her pilot and skill cards, and the spaceship cards to play the model as either a Colonial or Cylon ship; and Scar, possibly the most vicious and experienced Raider encountered.
The upcoming releases in the Battlestar Galactica – Starship Battles line also include its first accessory: a set of Additional Control Panels, an essential element of the game system. Each Control Panel allows to keep track and manage the speed, kinetic energy, rotation and altitude of one of the spaceships in play. The set includes four additional Control Panels to expand games with more spaceships.
