Warhammer Fest: Offizielle Bilder

Warhammer Fest Europe is in full flow, with over a thousand eager Warhammer fans joining us in Düsseldorf and seeing all sorts of cool stuff up close for the first time. This event isn’t just about seeing cool new stuff though, there’s also loads to do.

Some of the most popular activities today have been demos of two new licensed card games.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions is a card game set in the Mortal Realms. The game saw its worldwide release early this month and has already gained a massive global following with literally millions of cards sold around the world already.

The Champions team are at Warhammer Fest in force this weekend, showcasing the new game.

Another new card game is Doomseeker. In this card game, you play the role of a Dwarven Slayer – trying to die in the most glorious and heroic way possible – sounds like a solid premise for a game to us!

Warhammer Fest is a two-day event, so we’ll be back tomorrow with a look at some of the studio displays, news from the tournaments, and the winner of the Golden Demon painting competition – check back then for more coverage…

The Buried Dagger

After 12 years, more than 50 books and loads of short stories and audio dramas, the Horus Heresy series is coming to an end, making way for the Siege of Terra – a new set of books that will follow the greatest conflict mankind has ever known in more detail than ever before.

The final book of the Horus Heresy series before the siege will be The Buried Dagger – a tale of betrayal, woe and the final, tragic collapse of the Death Guard. This moment has been a pivotal and iconic part of Horus Heresy lore for decades, and we’re incredibly excited to finally hear the full story.

Here’s writer James Swallow with more info:

When I wrote my first Horus Heresy novel – The Flight of the Eisenstein – that book was built around the narrative of key events in the history of the Death Guard and the venerable Battle-Captain Nathaniel Garro… So having The Buried Dagger, my last book to bear the Horus Heresy banner, return to both the XIV Legion and ‘Straight-arrow Garro’ appeals to my sense of synchronicity.

The Death Guard, their primarch Mortarion and Garro have all taken troubled roads to reach this point, and like a lot of the narratives in this saga, their story is a mirror of the greater tragedy of the Horus Heresy – and in this novel, each of them will pass a point of no return that will change them forever. I feel privileged to be the writer who got to end this chapter of the saga, and light the way to the next – prepare yourselves for the Siege.

Thanks, James – while we’re sure that The Buried Dagger will be a bittersweet read, it looks like a fitting end for this epic chapter for Warhammer 40,000 lore. The Siege of Terra promises to be incredibly exciting, and a worthy successor to The Horus Heresy.

Forge World have been showing off a host of new models for a range of games, from Adeptus Titanicus to Necromunda – plus some tantalising hints at the future…

The Horus Heresy

As we get closer to the release of the Horus Heresy Book 8 – Malevolence, we’ve been getting some eagerly awaited peeks at new models for the Blood Angels. We managed to get another look at the magnificent Blood Angels Praetor, plus our first peek at the Blood Angels Contemptor – what Legion would be complete without one?

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 11 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 12 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 13 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 14 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 15

Contemptor Dreadnoughts are pretty cool, but that’s not all. Blood Angels will be the first-ever Legion to receive a custom chassis for the mighty Leviathan Dreadnought – after all, if you can’t obliterate your enemies and look beautiful doing it, then are you really a Blood Angel?

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 16

For every Legion, two popular Consul choices will be at long last receiving models of their own. These flexible champions are key to any Space Marine Legion list, offering a range of bonuses to your army as well as opening up all sorts of thematic opportunities. Very soon, you’ll be able to add a Vigilator – a ruthless sniper who lends his expertise in scouting and infiltration to your units – or a machine-mastering Praevian to your Horus Heresy army:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 17 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 18

Adeptus Titanicus

Today is the launch of Adeptus Titanicus, with pre-orders beginning to arrive across the planet. This is just the beginning of what will be a fully supported game system, with all sorts planned for the future.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 19

The more observant among you would have noticed that the Adeptus Titanicus rulebook, weapon cards and command terminals are all full of references to the Warhound Titan. The very observant among you would have also noticed that Forge World’s Warhound Titan, while wonderful, is perhaps a mite big for your games. Well, good news – there’s a teeny, tiny, Adeptus Titanicus-sized Warhound on its way, and soon – here’s a preview of what it looks like:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 20 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 21

With that, you’ll have all the Titans you need to make any of the maniples in the main rulebook, but rest assured, there’s still a lot more to come, with weapons, Titans and more in the pipeline.

Like Necromunda, Blood Bowl and the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, Adeptus Titanicus will combine plastic and resin kits to bring you a range of expansions for your models – not to mention awesome terrain. We’ve had a look at the first Adeptus Titanicus releases from Forge World with an incredible pair of pre-sculpted boards that give you an instant ruined cityscape to battle over. These boards have been designed to be fully compatible with the Civitas Imperialis kits, letting you stack your buildings directly onto specially designed fittings.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 22 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 23

Necromunda

In just under a year, we’ve seen Necromunda grow enormously, with all but one of the iconic Clan Houses now represented in glorious plastic, a rogues gallery of Bounty Hunters from Forge World, not to mention four jam-packed Gang War expansions and a bristling armoury of upgrade kits.

In short, the future is bright for this dark corner of the Imperium, with even more cool stuff on the way – in the short run, you can look forward to some new kit for Cawdor. Need some more flamers? Of course you do!

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 24 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 25

Meanwhile, for when cleansing promethium won’t cut it, we reckon this sinister executioner will come in handy:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 26

All that remains is one question – where are House Delaque? We’re sure we’ll see these shadowy spies in time, so stay tuned…

11:00 AM: Rogue Trader, Orks, Endless Spells, Sisters of Battle AND MORE

Rogue Trader revealed. Early hints at what the Adepta Sororitas can look forward to. ANOTHER incredible Ork buggy. The Warhammer Community and Studio Preview – a seminar that gives lucky fans the opportunity to be among the first to find out what’s next for Warhammer – has just closed its doors following a thrilling set of unveilings…

Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t share all the latest news with you – starting with a massive and highly anticipated expansion to Kill Team:

Kill Team: Rogue Trader

All can be revealed at last. What exactly is Kill Team: Rogue Trader?

Kill Team: Rogue Trader is a massive expansion to Kill Team that has something for every kind of player. Kill Team has offered us the chance to explore the 41st Millennium in ways that were never previously possible, with its intimate, ground-level scale letting us peek into the darker corners of the lore.

Kill Team: Rogue Trader is a milestone for Warhammer bringing Rogue Traders and their crews – the daring colonisers who claim new territory for the Imperium – to life in miniature form for the first time since Inquisitor. These miniatures are truly incredible, exploring in astounding detail a part of the lore that previously only dwelled in novels or background:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 27 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 28

Your Rogue Trader and crew will be up against a host of repulsive Nurgle infected and renegade servants of the Plague God swollen with horrific mutations.

The Kill Team: Rogue Trader boxed set is more than miniatures – it’s a toolbox with something to offer for every Kill Team player, from those using the system to forge thrilling narratives to die-hard tournament players.

At its core, the set is an adventure that pits Rogue Trader Elucia Vhane against a fiendish strain of mutants in a series of narrative missions. You’ll be able to use both kill teams in your campaigns and matched play missions, with a set of datasheets and points values for each.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 29

Essentially, you’re getting two Kill Team Starter Sets in one – as well as a thematic (and portable) pair of Killzones. In Rogue Trader, you’ll find rules, boards and terrain for playing in the cramped confines of the Imperial shuttle, the Truehawk, or an Imperial Shrine. As well as offering new tactical challenges, these boards make sparse but effective use of terrain, making it the perfect option for playing on the go. You’ll be able to fit the entire Killzone plus your kill team and datacards into a single Skirmish Case.

You’ll even be able to use both teams in your games of Warhammer 40,000, giving you yet another use for these stunning models.

Kill Team: Rogue Trader will be out before long – but before that…

New Kill Team Starter Sets!

As well as Rogue Trader, there are more expansions on the way for Kill Team, and soon – we weren’t kidding when we said we were going to be supporting this game for a long, long time. The next two Kill Team Starter Sets will be (drumroll please) Deathwatch and Drukhari!

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 30 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 31

The next Killzone, meanwhile, will be the Death World Forest Environment Expansion:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 32

Available to pre-order one week from now, we’ll have more information about both of these sets very soon (like, tomorrow soon). So keep an eye out!

Warhammer Underworlds: Change is Coming…

Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire was just the beginning. Back at AdeptiCon, we teased the first two cards of a new season for the ultimate competitive miniatures game. The time has almost come…

A new season of Warhammer Underworlds is coming. Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault will bring new cards, warbands and more to the ultimate competitive miniatures game, offering fresh challenges for new and old players alike.

Keep your eye out in the coming weeks for more news from the Mirrored City…

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: A New Endless Spell

It’s been a great year for Warhammer Age of Sigmar so far, with new armies, a new edition and loads of content for fans to get stuck into. There’s still more on the way in the next few months, and we’ve had our first look at what we can expect in the fall with a sneak preview of a new endless spell:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 33

But who could this strange sorcery be for? We’ll have to wait and see…

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks!

A few days ago, we pulled the covers off a recent triumph in Orkish engineering with a reveal of the new and improved Ork Warbuggy – or, as they call it, the Kustom Boosta-blasta

There’s a lot more on the way for the Greenskinz, with a new wave of wild and wonderful vehicles arriving this Orktober, spearheaded by Speed Freeks.

This boxed set pits you against a friend in a series of death races between a variety of Orkish speedsters, including the aforementioned Kustom Boosta-blasta and the Shokkjump Dragsta – a racer that uses shokk-attack technology to project itself ahead of the competition – or just into anyone that looks like they need smashin’ up.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 34 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 35 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 36 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 37

Speed Freeks (and more) will be joining us in Orktober – until then, stand by (and maybe treat yourself to a Mek).

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 38

Due to overwhelming popular demand, Space Marine Heroes is going global. First introduced in Japan last year, we’ve had loads of feedback on social media that you guys want a chance to grab these models for yourself – and soon, you’ll have your chance.

Space Marine Heroes are highly collectable Space Marines that you’ll be able to pick up in blind packs at your local Warhammer and Games Workshop stores (as well as participating retailers). With a range of unique new designs, these guys are great for kill teams, adding some character to your squads or just guarding your desk while you work.

Guts, Gore and Blood (Bowl)

Over the past year, we’ve seen Nurgle make his putrid mark on the 41st Millennium and Mortal Realms with a foetid host of new models – so it was only a matter of time before we saw the Plague God turn his attention to Blood Bowl

Nurgle’s Rotters re-imagine a classic Blood Bowl team in truly disgusting detail, featuring some revolting new takes on venerable classics like Rotters – like Poxwalkers, but marginally better at ball games – and, for the first time in years, Pestigor.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 39

You’ll find the rules for the new team in another exciting instalment of Spike! Journal:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 40

Nurgle’s Rotters will be on their way soon, sports-fans – so keep an eye (or three) out.

The Podcast You’ve Been Waiting For

Podcasts! Aren’t they brilliant? Recently, after years of popular demand, we launched the first-ever official Warhammer podcast: StormCast. Turns out that loads of you want a Warhammer 40,000 Podcast, too – so we’re giving you just that.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 41

We’ve been waiting for ages to bring you a dedicated podcast for Warhammer 40,000 – with so much exciting stuff on the way, and having assembled a crack team for StormCast, now is the perfect time. Every other week, we’ll be bringing you a full hour of insights, tactics, tips and chat, offering you unprecedented access to the people who make the games you love.

What’s more, we’re changing the format for StormCast, replacing our grot-sized mini-episodes with a hulking hour-long broadcast every other week, allowing us to cover topics in more depth and making it a great accompaniment to your next painting session (or just your commute to work).

And One More Thing…

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 42

Back at AdeptiCon, we revealed Sisters of Battle were coming in (if the Emperor wills it) 2019. We know you guys have been anticipating this release for years, and we want to assure you that Sisters of Battle are in the best possible hands.

After looking at the first of the new generation of Adepta Sororitas at AdeptiCon, today we’re previewing some early images as well as exploring how our miniatures designers have brought this iconic range to life.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 43 GW Warhammer Fest 2018 44

The flamer and bolter are classic weapons both of the Sisters of Battle and the Imperium itself, and the design team wanted to make sure that these armaments truly suited those wielding them.

Based on the iconic original bolter, the weapons borne by the Sisters of Battle have been designed to be employed by humans. The weapons carried by the Emperor’s most devout warriors are as much ritual implements as they are weapons of war, and so we’ve squeezed all sorts of ornate detail into them, pushing our cutting-edge technology to the limit to make sure that every part of the new Battle Sisters tells a story.

Take their bolters – just as the bolt rifles wielded by the Primaris Space Marines were based on the iconic Godwyn-pattern, so too are the new Sisters of Battle bolters.

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 45

There are a bunch of distinct bolt weapons coming out, too – here are just some of them:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 46

Our designers have been pushing the design of the Sisters of Battle further than ever before – while you’ll recognise their classic armour and weapons, look closer and you’ll pick up a wealth of detail we could previously only explore in art, like the reverential engravings on each shell of this heavy bolter:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 47

And, of course, you’ll be getting flamers – lots and lots of flamers. It is, after all, the ideal heretic-purging weapon. Based again on the iconic Sisters of Battle flamer, these have been upgraded with a more ornate muzzle:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 48

For those who escape your wrath at range, there are plenty of close combat weapons on the way too, again based on classic designs and upgraded with new detail:

GW Warhammer Fest 2018 49

We’ll have more news on the Sisters of Battle in future studio previews, so watch this space…

If you’re still hungry for more news, join us later today for the latest reveals from the Forge World seminar…

8AM: It Begins

The stage is set. Our hard-working servitors have been transforming the Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf into a little corner of the Warhammer world, our designers and writers are in place, and there’s all sorts of new stuff ready and waiting to be revealed.

Very soon, the doors for the first ever Warhammer Fest Europe will open. If you couldn’t make it in person this year, fear not – the Warhammer Community team is on hand across the weekend with live updates on all the latest goings-on. We’ll be bringing you breaking news from the Studio Preview, Golden Demon winners plus any cool stuff we spot on the day – so watch this space.

      • Kommerzialisierung? GW will Geld verdienen!

        @Warhammer Fest aka Games Day

Same procedure as every year.

No-Doom schreibt: @Warhammer Fest aka Games Day

Same procedure as every year.

-> schon mal Mad Max gesehen?
