Ludus Magnus Studio: Nova Aetas Regeln
ACTIVATION:
Horologium: Just as in the base rules of Nova Aetas, you activate all units using the Horologium. One important difference is that in the skirmish game you may not use the ‘Reaction’ option (to move the hero Activation token after each action instead of at the end of its activation.).
How to use APs:
In the skirmish game players can use APs to take the following actions:
• Move – every model can spend APs to move at any point during its activation. They can stop the movement to attack and then keep moving as long their APs last. As in the basic game Nova Aetas, you can move orthogonally (across or down) but not diagonally (if not otherwise specified on the card).
• Attack – the base attack with any of the equipped weapons costs 3APs. In the future, our free online magazine “Ashes” will present special tools that can give more attack options or have a different AP cost.
• Skill – Every skill is reported on the reference card of the hero or troop, along with the AP cost. All heroes have a Reaction Skill that can be used only during the activation of an enemy model. Every Reaction skill has a ‘charge’ which is the maximum number time it can be used in a game. It is usually one for the most powerful abilities.
For a standard game we recommend 100 Fiorini each.
You start the game by hiring your soldiers. All of the units in your company have to belong to the same faction (Venice, Papal, etc.). Only the units defined by the trait Mercenary can belong to any faction. All companies must have a hero to guide them: once you have chosen and hired one hero, you can choose troops from among the ones available. You may only hire one hero for every 100 Fiorini spent on the company. Troops can be purchased more than once, even if they are of the same kind (as long as it is not specified by the Unit card).
The Skirmish Game is based on clashes between Heroes and their Troops. Every troop consists of a varying number of miniatures. Each troop has a corresponding card which outlines the minimum and maximum number of miniatures which can be in the troop, as well as other details.
The size of the company is constructed using points (Fiorini). Before a game the players must all decide on the number of Fiorini they wish their companies to be built to.
