Fallout: PVC vs. Resin & AI Mode
Modiphius zeigt einen Vergleich der PCV und Resin Varianten der Minis für die Fallout Starter Box.
This week we’ve received the plastic samples for the Two Player Starter Box from the chinese factory and have been checking them over to confirm we’re happy with the details. So you can see the process we’ve shown some closeup photos below with the resin version on the left, and the PVC version on the right.
Jon Webb our wargames manager has made some notes which you can check out below. Overall we’re really happy as the detail has really come through – you can see for yourself though – click on the pictures to see a close up!
BoS T-60
Webbing and piping looks good. Backpack canisters have retained rivets/details. Face looks fine and retains separate ‚piping‘ around helmet‘
Super Mutant (Aviator Head)
Skulls on waist look good. Leg wires and gun wire stand out. Knee texture visible. Wood grain and concrete on base.
Nora
Vault Suit piping is well defined. Buttons still visible on pouches. Hair still has some individual strands.
Super Mutant Brute
Muscle texture on back looks nice. Bandages on legs remain defined. Armour plates still have battle damage.
Dogmeat
fur texture has carried over. Nuka caps on base look nice and crisp. Wood plank and concrete textures have carried over. Teeth are still visible
Super Mutant Hounds
1 part mould means no joins/seams on legs, so no filling. Muscle texture and teeth have transferred well. Cracked slabs on base retained detail. Nostrils and eyes present
Super Mutant Pipe Rifle
Gun barrel kept details well. Armour plates look good. Wire/rope on legs is still well defined and pronounced. Rope texture is slight, but still visible (might need a slight emphasis, but its PVC, so losing surface texture is unsurprising)
Male Settler
Definition on chain and webbing/bags is still mostly present. Rips and tears in clothing are present. Plants and gravel still seen on base. Note slight ‚lean‘ on PVC model will be corrected for production.
Female Settler
Strong creasing in clothes and bandages on legs. Hair is still defined strands. Base retained wood grain and small textures.
Enslaved Tech
Muscle definition and hair strands remain on model. Detail on pipe wrench has transferred very well.
Deathclaw
base tyre and rocks look good, Texture has transferred over well. Skin still has crags and ridges. Face looks nice and mean. Back ridges as part of the body means fewer gaps to fill.
Alien Zetan

Bin ja noch am hin und her überlegen, ob ich mir das Spiel kaufe, tendiere ja eher dazu 🙂 .
Würde mir auch die Resin Version holen, einfach weil es die schärferen Details hat, auch wenn ich der Meinung bin, dass das PVC durchaus sehr gut aussieht. Schön, dass sie vor Release noch so eine Gegenüberstellung machen, spricht ja auch für Transparenz und macht dem Kunden die Entscheidung leichter. Schade nur, dass die Vorbestellerminis aus PVC sind, sind ja immerhin so etwas wie limitierte Minis, da wäre meiner Meinung nach Resin besser gewesen.
Ich habe mir letztens das Art of Fallout 4 Artbook gekauft und kann es jedem der sich für das Fallout Tabletop interessiert nur ans Herz legen.
Es gibt auch die Möglichkeit etwas drauf zuzahlen und die Starterbox in Resin zu bekommen. Nur die Deathclaw geben sie einem dann nicht mehr mit (daher bin ich auf Verdacht bei PVC geblieben).
Falls du direkt bei Modiphius bestellen willst, und jemanden kennst der da schon bestellt hat, kann er/sie dir auch einen 10%-Rabatt vermitteln.
Also wenn das schon die finalen PVC Modelle sind, werde ich mir die Startbox auf alle Fälle holen.
Muss ja sagen, die Proportionen der Modelle und die Vorabregeln haben es mir so angetan, dass ich praktisch die ganze Wave ausser dem Scenic Set (und um die Wartezeit zu verkürzen noch nen Star Trek Adventures Borg Cube) gepreordert habe. Ich kaufe sonst eigentlich nur mal vereinzelt was, aber Fallout und Star Trek Adventures werden dieses Jahr meine Spiele, es ist auch mal wieder schön die Printmaterialien in einer Qualität zu bekommen, wie ich mir das vorstelle, nicht nur Minis toll, Regelbuch und Spielmaterialien Grütze. Die PVC-Version vom Starterset reicht auch, mir macht der Zusammenbau nicht mehr soviel Spaß wie früher, will lieber gleich mit malen und spielen loslegen. Ist sicher auch Priorisierung durch mangelnde Zeit. Sollte ja alles bald kommen, bin seit langem mal wieder voll geflasht.
Ich finde es cool, dass sie beide Optionen anbieten. Das sollten mehr Hersteller machen.
Viel Spaß beim Grate entfernen bei den PVC Minis. Sieht ja teilweise übel aus und die werden sich für die Fotos bestimmt nicht die schlechtesten Modelle rausgesucht haben.
