Mantic Games: Weitere Previews für 2017
Nach Deadzone & Co werfen Mantic Games heute einen Blick auf ihre Pläne für Dreadball und Walking Dead.
Walking Dead:
Despite the fact that The Walking Dead: All Out War didn’t hit retail until the end of the year, it’s already having a huge impact on the gaming community. Since launch we’ve seen some incredible paint jobs over on the The Walking Dead Fanatics Facebook group, watched some great gameplay videos and spent an entire weekend playing with the guys/gals at Beasts of War.
Wave 2
The first wave of the Kickstarter shipped in November and we’re now busy at work on Wave Two. All the rulebooks, equipment cards, Survivor cards and event cards have been approved by Skybound, while the studio has been busy playtesting and proof-reading the new expansions.
We’re planning to start shipping wave two to Kickstarter backers in the spring. Wave Two includes a host of great products, like the Greene Farm and Woodbury expansions, plus Survivors such as the mutilated version of the Governor, Tyreese, one-handed Rick and Hershel. All these releases will then be spread out at retail through the remainder of 2017 and 2018.
Creating your own Survivors
Just in case you didn’t know, in the Days Gone Bye expansion, there are rules for creating your own Survivors. Recently we’ve seen more and more community-created characters (including a few cheeky tributes to well know film and TV characters) and we’ve been really impressed with the creativity out there. We’re sure that 2017 will bring more fantastic community-created Survivors and we can’t wait to see them.
Organized Play
We’re already seeing that The Walking Dead is an extremely competitive game, thanks to the simple rules and ability to tool up your Survivors with different equipment. With that in mind, in 2017 we really want to expand the options for organized play. After all, we know that a competitive tournament scene is the key to getting more people involved with a new game.
Shortly we’ll be launching an organized play kit for The Walking Dead, which will be packed with exclusive content, and we’ll be keeping you posted with more details in the New Year. We’re also planning to make some acrylic gaming aids, like a new Killzone template and rulers, to give you the edge in competitive play.
Brush with Death
We recently announced the winners of our first Brush with Death painting competition. Those of you who were following the progress of the contest may have noticed that there wasn’t a Walking Dead category.
Well, we’re pleased to announce that in the New Year we’ll be launching a Brush with Death competition themed around The Walking Dead. There will be two categories: single miniature and diorama. For the diorama category, the diorama must feature at least two All Out War miniatures.
Details on how to enter will be shared in the New Year.
Dreadball:
When we launched DreadBall back in 2012, it quickly became a firm favourite among tabletop gamers. Thanks to its super fast gameplay, simple rules and teams that were full of character, DreadBall was a great introduction to miniature gaming and Mantic products in general.
Then with the launch of DreadBall Xtreme in 2015, we looked at the dirty underbelly of DreadBall. This was a fantastic introduction to the Warpath Universe before people jumped into the more complex worlds of Deadzone or Warpath. It also introduced even more teams to the original DreadBall, taking the count up to 24!
However, over time it became clear that those teams released in season six were at a significant advantage over the teams released at the beginning, thanks to improved abilities and different stats.
So earlier this year we launched the DreadBall 2 Kickstarter to fund a brand new version of the greatest game in the galaxy, with improved rules, more balanced stats and expanded rules for league play.
DreadBall 2 will be launched at retail in late 2017 and we’re excited to see the new teams hitting the pitch. We’ll be keeping you updated throughout 2017 with more details about the launch and when pledges will be sent to Kickstarter backers… so stay tuned!
DreadBall 2 playtesting
The great thing is that, although DreadBall 2 is officially launching next year, we’ve already started playtesting the new teams, new rules and new stats.
You can download the latest playtest packet NOW and start playing at home with the updated rules. The feedback so far has been great and the gameplay experience is far more balanced for the various teams.
If there’s a team you like you look of in the playtest document, you can still pick them up from the Mantic store. Plus, we’ve currently reduced the price of the Gruba-tek VII Coliseum Deluxe DreadBall Pitch so you can play your games in style.
DreadBall Xtreme
While we’re busy fine tuning the rules for DreadBall 2, if you still fancy taking to the pitch to flex your strike-scoring muscles or just fancy slamming some hapless opponents, then we’re pleased to report that we’ve got a special Dreadball Xtreme bundle available on the website.
In DreadBall Xtreme you get enough miniatures for two full teams (which are also playable in the standard version of DreadBall), a deluxe gaming mat, free agents, sponsors and lots more! Plus, it’s all pre-assembled so you can start playing in next to no time.
Mantic Games ist unter anderem bei unserem Partner Radaddel erhältlich.
