American lend-lease allows the British to field the Sherman and British engineers improved these tanks even further, putting it’s fire power above most American versions with the Sherman V Firefly, equipped with a 17-pdr cannon which was one of the most deadly anti-tank weapons of the war, capable of tearing through the heaviest of armour.

This starter set lets you field two armoured platoons, one full of impregnable Churchill tanks which will be at the front of your line taking an enormous amount of punishment, the other provides your tank destroyer capability, with the Firefly reliably taking out any target from over 1,000 m away. The M4 Sherman

Be it the frontline, forward unit or supporting unit, the Sherman fits many roles in any army. The armament has the ability to take down a Panther tank from the front and has enough armour to shrug off one or two shots.

With over 70,000 units produced the T-34 is famous for its unconventional design. When it arrived early in the war the T-34 became a threat that the German’s just couldn’t handle. Designed to replace the monster sized KV tank series, the IS-2 was just as big and heavy but was even nastier. Equipped with a massive 122mm gun, its intention was to be a breakthrough tank, demolishing fortifications and clearing enemy positions.

Two brutal armoured platoons come from this starter set, both with the potential to break entire armies. Forming the main battle line would be the IS-2s, with tough armour, a gargantuan 122mm gun and 3 machine guns, you can send this platoon to clear the path for the follow-up task force. Which would be the T-34 Squadron, who have plenty of armour and firepower to sweep away whatever remains.

The T-34/85

The T-34/85 became to be known as the ‚ultimate‘ version of the T-34 series, combining the revolutionary design alongside an 85mm gun turret, this tank became the apex of battle tanks. Equipped with a heavy anti-tank gun and 2 MMGs, this tank can deal with the heaviest tanks alongside numerous squads of infantry.

Most properly known as the Iosif Stalin 2 tank (IS-2) it is also widely known as the anglicised Joseph Stalin 2 (JS-2) heavy tank.

Making its combat debut early in 1944, the IS-2 was designed predominantly as a heavy tank to break through enemy lines, able to withstand the potent German anti-tank weaponry and with a 122mm gun able to defeat the likes of the German Panther and Tiger tanks.

IS-2s were assigned to independent heavy tank regiments and the elite Guards battalions in particular. Used to reinforce the most vital areas of the Soviet attack they would support the infantry during assaults, destroying fortifications, etc. with their devastating high explosive shells. Once the breakthrough had been achieved, lighter Soviet tanks would rush through to exploit the breach and cause havoc in the enemy lines.

This IS-2 is the later variant with sloped instead of stepped glacis plate. Known as the 1944 model IS-2, it led the way into the shattered remains of Berlin during the last days of Hitler’s Third Reich…

One of the enduring images of the Soviet army in WWII is their tanks speeding along covered in Soviet soldiers. These tank riders offered valuable protection from enemy infantry in a truly symbiotic relationship.

IS-2 in Bolt Action

Upholding the legacy on the KV near-invulnerability, the IS-2 now has a heavy anti-tank gun making it far more potent to taking out heavy German armour than its predecessor.

The KV-series tanks were a fearsome and formidable weapon during most of the Second World War. At the onset of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, around 500 KV-1 heavy tanks were built. Outclassing every other tank in operational service, it came as something of a rude awakening for the rampant German Panzer divisions.

This box has the components to allow you to make either a platoon of KV-1s or KV-2s, you can even mix and match! Here are the full contents:

The KV-1 had serious advantages over its German counterparts – foremost amongst these was its armour being impenetrable by any tank-mounted weapon at the time unless fired at point-blank range. It had good firepower with a 76.2mm main gun in addition to hull- and turret-mounted machine guns.

The KV-2 outweighed most other tanks of the era especially armed with its 152mm howitzer, making it twice as heavy as the heaviest contemporary German tank. Due to the size of its heavy turret and gun, the KV-2 was slower and had a much higher profile than the KV-1.

KV-1/2 on the battlefield

With vastly superior armour, both KVs can withstand an incredible amount of punishment, even equaling the Tiger tanks and other heavy German tanks that came much later within the war! The KV-2 is more suited to be long ranged support, providing destructive bunker busting shots onto your enemy, and with such thick armour, you can leave it completely unattended and still nearly can guarantee it’s survival if it gets into trouble.

This plastic sprue contains a total of 10 German infantry in a seated position, with plastic components for a selection of Waffen-SS or Heer infantry! You can also use heads and parts from other sprues to stylise your passengers even further to completely fit the theme of any Germany army!

With a quick bit of flexing the bodies can pop apart allowing you to make singles or strips for all your different vehicles!
