Parallax Warband: Kickstarter

Der Parallax Warband Kickstarter läuft noch 8 Tage, daher hier  mal einen kleinen Einblick.

Parallax: Warband is a fast-paced skirmish game set in a world of high fantasy. Players build a Waband of highly customizable adventurers and mercenaries to complete missions and foil the plans of their enemies. A Warband may be as diverse or race-centered as a player chooses; representing mercenaries and/or faction-led parties alike.

Use pre-made ‚Personalities‘ to play or create your own characters using the uniques races and paths to fully customize your character.  With more than 100 skills and 5 paths (i.e. classes), you can customize your Warband to make it fit your play style. Each race has its own unique style, but don’t forget the healer – never forget the healer.

In Parallax games are won and lost by how many contracts (i.e. missions) are successfully completed before time runs out. At the beginning of the game, players accept a number of Contract Cards, which detail the Warband’s objectives. The more contracts a player completes, the more victory points they earn! However, failure to deliver on your promises means you’ll lose points instead.

Game Features:

  • Five unique races;
  • Five specialized classes;
  • Two different, yet compatible, ways to play:
    – Campaign mode: build your character from the ground up choosing attributes, skills and progression paths;
    – Personality mode – compose your Warband from a wide selection of pre-made characters;
  • More than 100 distinct skills and abilities for character creation;
  • Your character gains new skills as you play;
  • More than 44 different Contract Cards;
  • Streamlined d10 System, where injuries impact characters as the battle progresses;
  • Beautifully detailed miniatures available in two scales – standard 28mm size and ‚champion‘ 35mm scale.
  • Original short story by Gav Thorpe
  • Original ‚Choose Your Own Adventure‘ story by Tom Haswell

How this Works:

The Kickstarter, like the game, is highly customizable. You can choose to buy any individual model(s) or an entire Warband. All of the models you will see below are available as Add-ons.

The models in the Warbands shown below are there for reference purposes only. You can leave the Warband as is, or at the end of the campaign when the survey, you will choose the models you want from the existing host of models and those unlocked by stretch goals.

Warbands shown below are with the ‚Champion Scale‘ models.  To see the full range of models currently available for both Standard (28mm) and Champion Scale, please see the Add-on sections below.  All models come unpainted and unassembled.

The Models:

When designing the game we wanted it to have an epic look and feel. When you are only fielding a handful of models, each of them should have a unique presence on the battlefield. The typical number of characters in a Warband is 4-6 models.

As you will have noticed by now, the models come in two different scales, but are both compatible in the gaming system. The Standard Scale (28mm) has beautiful models that are playable in Parallax, but will also let you use them in other gaming systems or RPG settings. The Standard Scale models will come in metal. For the Kickstarter we are also offering them in resin.

The Champion Scale models for Parallax: Warbands are large, 35mm scale, allowing for more details in the models. The Minotaur is approximately 90mm, approx. 3.5 inches tall, and humans are 35mm or approx. 1.5 inches. This was done with the painter in mind giving them more detail and canvas to work with.  These are a mixture of metal and resin.

Why Kickstarter:

This game has been a passion for a long time and we have been carefully figuring out how to balance it and make it a game that we would want to buy and play. Now that the mechanics has been tested and we know that we have a game worth playing the question was, how do we get it out to the market? The answer was Kickstarter. The game works, the models are beautiful and now we come to you to make our dream a reality.

By supporting this Kickstarter you are helping bring to life a rich world, with six different factions as well as laying the groundwork for the next three parts of the game already planned for the system (i.e. RPG, Large Scale Game, Board Game).

Kommentare
