Welcome to the „Monsters of Underdeep 2 – The Zombie Hulk“ Kickstarter!

Many thanks to all of our backers…. we are now funded!  The following stretch goals have now been unlocked!!

Minion_Miniatures_Monsters_of_Underdeep_Kickstarter_04 Minion_Miniatures_Monsters_of_Underdeep_Kickstarter_05

„Monsters of Underdeep 2“ gives you the opportunity to help fund the monstrous Zombie Hulk miniature.  This titanic creature is part of our Zombie Abominations faction for our Underdeep range of miniatures.

Along with the Hulk many other fantastical monstrous brutes are also available such as the unstoppable Bugbear Ironshield, the primordial Lizardkin Deathscale and freakish Flesh Golem.  All these miniatures are supplied with a 60mm round base and stand around 65mm to eyeline. The final miniature available as part of the initial funding goal is the huge Troll Patriarch supplied on a truly gigantic 90mm round base.  These guys are all huge!!!

All of the miniatures provided are printed on a Solidscape 3Z Max, giving unbelievable printing quality… The miniatures are also provided in the highest quality resin available.   The images do not do the miniatures justice in regard to the level of detail.  If in doubt, please ask some of the previous backers in the comments section…

Our initial target for this campaign is £4500.  This amount takes into account the increased sculpting, printing and casting costs for a miniature of this size.  He really is that large.

The final Zombie Hulk miniature will be 85mm to eyeline with a similar diameter.  He will come based on 90mm round plastic base.

The hulk, like our other miniatures is a multipart resin kit made from the highest quality resin.  It will require superglue when building to attach the parts.

The body and legs will come as a one part piece with the gut piece being a separate part inits own right.  Both arms are separate pieces along with the back attachments.  The spikes and various zombie appendages will also be separate parts.  As with all of our kits the model will not require a great amount of skill to fit together and will require minimal cleaning before assembly.

The rewards are shown in detail below.  We have tried where possible to put all the information needed into our graphics.  I think this simplifies our pledges and shows how easy it is to pledge for this KS.

Later in the page you will also see an example pledge.

A mountain of flesh, bodies and parts of Underdeep dwellers formed into a single form. These creatures are lumbering behemoths, unstoppable hulks that only the mightiest, bravest foes can resist! Few know how these beings are created. Some say they are Necromasters whose grasp of their magical ability went out of control. Others say they have always been, perhaps demons of death that offer their services to Necromancers and Liche Priests. The answer is unknown but many speculate these creatures are a Necromancers greatest creation; his ultimate feat and pinnacle of his craft!

Minion_Miniatures_Monsters_of_Underdeep_Kickstarter_11

The plan with the Zombie Hulk is to add different heads, arms, back pieces and gut plates to the selection available to be pledged for.  We have gone all the way up to £30k so far on the stretch goals but after this time we will offer micro stretch goals with addition addon pieces for the hulk.  These include new Zombies (to add to his bulk), large maggots for his base and different corpses on a variety of spikes.  This will make sure that no 2 Hulks are the same.

The above shot (and below) shows the vestigial; wings that still hang from the creatures back, does this denote that it was once a Demon, that it is a demon or that demon parts were used in its manufacture.  No one knows.  We have two other back sets available as stretch goals, the Mantis Claws and a Full set of mighty Demon wings.

Minion_Miniatures_Monsters_of_Underdeep_Kickstarter_14

The back shot shows another unfortunate soul bound to its form.  I the Underdeep game the Hulk has a huge health reserve that gradually ticks away through the game.  it has to be constantly fed souls to replenish its health.  It is a truly destructive monster that takes a ridiculous amount of punishment to stop.

Minion_Miniatures_Monsters_of_Underdeep_Kickstarter_15

The above view shows one of the zombie/skeleton creatures protecting its master from harm.  This represents as once absorbed body emerging from its hosts side and wielding a spear to pierce the hearts of enemies and provide more souls for the Hulk itself.

I love the Zombie directing the Hulk to its next feast of souls!!!

The Bugbear Ironshield, a metal clad behemoth used to protect the tunnels of the Underdeep from intruders. They are most often found in service of Hobgoblins who arm and equip these creatures but their services are also used by Goblins who pay them well in food or victims to consume.  Ironshields are the largest of all Bugbears, nearly all huge males that tend to live a solitary existence. They often willingly ally themselves with Hobgoblins and Goblins, particularly when food is scarce. Although usually quite lethargic when their blood is up they are truly devastating combatants, with an almost unstoppable fury.

Deathscales are a mere myth among the Sunsiders… Tales of these creatures were once spoken by the isolated tribes of Morn… tales of monstrous creatures lurking deep in the swamps and mires.  Most believe these creatures did once roam the wildlands but have now become extinct; bygone creatures from another age.

This is mostly true, but some still dwell in the darkness and in the most remote corners of the World.  When war becomes inevitable the Lizardkin Khan’s pray to their blood Gods and make offerings to these revered and primordial creatures.  If the stars are right and enough blood is spilled in their honour they will lumber from their lairs and join the ranks of the Lizardkin.

Minion_Miniatures_Monsters_of_Underdeep_Kickstarter_20

Lizardkin come in many forms most are not alike.  Some have Crocodillian visages or huge horns, others have the heads of lizards or display spiny ridge upon their backs.

The Flesh Golem is just a term used by the few that have seen such a creature and lived. The Paladin hero Gordric of Guil described one such encounter in his memoirs whilst battling the ancient Liche Priest Savos.

… the ground shook with its steps. Twice as tall as myself and immeasurably greater in bulk, it smashed aside the barricade we had thrown together and set upon destroying our forces. It was hard to tell its true shape… vaguely that of a man or a giant perhaps. Its parts were stitched and held together by wire, rivets, bolts and bone. One arm was that of giant bear or lion. It was covered in matted hair and blood, its claws like razors. It’s other arms were finer, more humanoid and more numerous. I counted four in total, each wielding a cruel hacking blade that made short work of my men. I tried to engage the creature, to summon the will to fight… but my courage left me as I stared into the only eye visable to me through the remnants of an iron mask. I am sure to this day the mask was made with one thing in mind… to spare us all from the visage within…. Sir Gordric of Guil,

Battle of Darkendelve 75 years before the Reckoning

The Flesh Golem is a basic BRUTE choice in the Kickstarter or can be purchased from the Addon Store for £25!

Trolls Trolls are large, gnarly creatures that inhabit many climates and regions of Morn. Although not exclusively a creature of the Underdeep, they are found there in large numbers, forming clans that occupy large cavern networks. Groups don’t tend to be huge, with around 20 individuals being an average sized clan. The leadership of the clan falls on the shoulders of the Patriarch, a huge troll of great age who is usually the father of most of the clan members. Patriarchs lead a strange existence as they suffer from an insatiable wanderlust. As they age they leave their clan to roam for countless miles. Sometimes they are gone a few weeks before returning with new scars, trinkets and swords (they like swords a lot… I will come back to this!).

Sometimes the Patriarchs are not seen by their clan for months or even years. When they do return they spend their time killing other males that have grown too strong within the clan and they take time to mate with the females before wandering back into the darkness. The only past time a troll likes more than wandering is fighting. Sometimes a Patriarch will return after finding a better place to establish his clan, usually to the detriment of another race or family of creatures. When this occurs, the clan prepares for war. This is the only time that Trolls tend to fight with their Patriarch. Trolls have several unique abilities and traits. Their primary ability is the power to regenerate terrible wounds. Troll don’t just have the power to heal extremely fast but they are able to reform lost limbs and organs given time. Some trolls, thought to be very, very dead, have amazed onlookers, only to get back to their feet a few hours after falling! The only way this ability is stopped is through fire. Trolls cannot regenerate burns.

As well as this powerful ability a Troll is a creature linked with the earth. Many tell tales of them turning to stone in sunlight, but this is not true. However, on occasion, large stone trolls have been found in deep forests, on lonely moors and deep within the caverns of Morn. Quite simply, as Trolls age their bodies begin to harden. They first begin to develop rock like protrusions on their backs and arms in middle age. This is seen as a sign of honour amongst Trolls and it generally serves them well as natural armour and gives them an edge in combat. However, as they become ancient creatures this stony skin begins to harden until the creature falls in to a torpor and it dies. Only the largest and meanest of Troll Patriarchs meet this most honourable end.

One last trait that Trolls have is a fascination with swords. Swords are by far the trolls most favoured weapon although so few are made that Trolls can use due to their size. Only the Patriarchs tend to be able to find such weapons on their long travels. However, Trolls will take swords whenever they can. Sometimes a troll will carry a bag of swords around with it. This has led some observers to think that they may even use them as a form of currency. All that is known is that they trolls love them and will often do anything to attain them!

Our Patriarch model will depict one of the aged, venerable creatures that wander the caverns of the Underdeep. Trolls will not form their own faction within the Underdeep game but will be a commonly encountered mercenary or bound creature.

Morn is a desolate world. Many centuries ago a cataclysmic war raged across the world. Man, Elf and Dwarf formed vast armies to combat the scourge from below, the armies of the Underdeep. The Underdeep had long been a source of conflict for the races know as the Sunsiders. Many rare and precious metals, stone and jewels lay beneath their feet and it was during these ventures that the two worlds collided. One world of light… the other of Darkness. Eventually a dark entity united the squabbling races of the Underdeep and a vast host poured forth to take vengeance on the Sunsiders. The war lasted for fifty years. Nations were vanquished, Kings slaughtered and races brought to the very brink of extinction. However, the forces of light prevailed and the creatures of the Underdeep were forced back down into the depths. Now, hundreds of years later Sunside has still not recovered. The Elves have withdrawn to their citadels, the Dwarves have fortified their mine cities and the few human kingdoms that remain hide behind their enormous walls. The once proud kingdoms are now wilderness punctuated with small towns and villages with no one to rely on for protection but themselves. And once again evil stirs in the deep… The world of Morn awakens to a new day. The sun slowly rises over the mountains and spills its golden glow on a land recovering from eons of war. Farmers till the land, shepherds tend the flocks and the good folk of the world grapple with the toils the day will bring. Deep below the surface world there is no dawn… only darkness. The Sunsiders think their lives are hard but food is plentiful, resources abundant and the dawn brings new hope. The Underdeep has no such hope…only the strong survive and the strong must fight for everything. The darkness holds many races, some pushed into the caves and dark places of the world by the Sunsiders, other races have always dwelt in the shadows. They vie for supremacy, King versus King, tribe versus tribe, clan versus clan. The only thing that unites these creatures is their lust for conquest, their need for revenge on the surface world. That day will come, but for now they must battle for control of the UNDERDEEP.
