The Praesidian Commando
Praesidian Commandos are the special forces of the Praesidian Republic. They are usually recruited from career military Praesidians with years of battlefield experience. Because Praesidians are usually trained for their role in society from a very early age, Praesidian warriors have nearly a lifetime of military experience, making those chosen for the Commando program particularly experienced.
Battlefield Role
Commandos have access to a wide range of equipment, making them a versatile unit able to adapt to most situations.
They are better trained and better equipped than regular Praesidian Warriors, so often take on the infantry tasks that the Warriors have been unable to fulfill. For missions that require dropping behind enemy lines, the Swifts are called.
One of the most common uses for the Praesidian Commando is as part of a special task force. If a Praesidian commander or Spirit Warrior has a specific mission that requires more skill than a standard unit of warriors has, they will assemble a unit of Commandos.
Some of the most common uses of a Commando squad are counter-terrorism missions, assassinations, and hostage rescues. Some Commando units also operate independently, under direct control of a commander or Spirit Warrior. Their purpose and missions are highly classified, and they will often find themselves operating in a military campaign without any other Praesidian forces in the area even knowing about them.
This new piece of artwork by the amazingly talented, Daniel Comerci, shows a typical look for a Praesidian Commando. Because their role requires more stealth and subterfuge than their warrior kin, the Commando wears darker armour. Unlike warriors, this armour is also totally sealed, allowing them to operate in limited space missions and underwater.
These systems are all controlled from within the Commando’s helmet system, which contains information on their suit’s conditions, as well as battlefield information, communications, and details about their missions.
Where many of the other units in a Praesidian force are more ceremonial in their dress (Spirit Warriors, Honour Guard, and Birthing Mothers), the Commando is all about practicality.
The Commando is the first piece of new character concept art we’ve commissioned this year, we’ve been focusing on starter set artwork and sculpts up to now, but there’s a new batch of artwork for the Praesidians and Ji’tar being commissioned over the next few weeks, so we’ll be seeing the visual universe of The Icarus Project expand once again!

Ich finde es klasse, wie sich das Spiel trotz des misslungenen Kickstarters entwickelt. Leider lohnt es sich auf Grund der Versandkosten für mich momentan noch nicht die Minis zu kaufen. Ich warte, bis es mehr Nexus Grunts gibt 🙂
