The Cerastus Knight is one of the most advanced classes of Knight armour fielded across the Imperium. More agile and powerful than most, Cerastus Knights are fewer in number and most have been carefully maintained by their households for generations. These advanced war machines are difficult to manufacture and some, such as the Cerastus Knight-Atrapos, are only produced under the direct auspices of the Lords Magos of the Mechanicum.

Many Forge Worlds use variations on the standard template when producing or repairing Knights. Local material availability, variation in technologies and methods of manufacture, and even aesthetic choices in honour of the Omnissiah can all alter the look of a Cerastus Knight, but make it no less powerful.
