Dropzone Commander: Neue Doppelblister
Hawk Wargames haben neue Einheiten vorgestellt, die künftig in Kombiblistern mit bestehenden Varianten erhältlich sein werden.
Angelos A2 Jetskimmer – £11.00
As the PHR become more embroiled in outright conflict on the Cradle Worlds, more intelligence is being gathered about their war engines and constructs. Given their frightening efficiency and hit and run tactics, it has taken this long for UCM intelligence services to start correctly identifying alternative weapons and chassis of vehicle in this secretive race’s arsenal.
The Angelos A2 is one such vehicle. Originally it was classified under a standard Angelos build, most often delivering Longreach rifle squads into buildings and lending long range demolitions support to the battlefield. Due to the reports of Commander Wade in one recent action, we now have more intel on this deadly new close support vehicle.
Spotting a pair of Angelos heading for an entrenched position (in a seemingly futile attack), Wade ordered the retreat of the troops, knowing full well that PHR would have some trick up their sleeves. Sadly, the extraction was not as timely as necessary, and when the A2’s arrived those infantry still in the position found to their horror that these transport were equipped with high-powered flamethrowers. Two units of Heavy hazard suits and three squads of Legionnaires were lost to the initial onslaught, followed by all remaining men when the Angelos disgorged their cargo of Sirens.

Leopard – £12.50
The leopard continues the Shaltari combined arms strategy first seen in the Jaguar. Instead of anti-tank and anti-air capability, this construct sports close support weaponry similar to that seen on a Dreamsnare or Firedrake, but with a concentrated Anti-vehicle weapon as well.
The Leopard uses Shaltari Microwave technology (amplified many times over by the fearsome power output of a warstrider) and focuses it through hardened prismatic beam generators. In effect, this creates a focused torrent of hyper-agitated molecules; a beam of molten air which immolates anything it touches with ease.
Coupled with the devastating Dragon Cannon, the Leopard is the Warstrider of choice for close up, battle hunger Shaltari who wish to look the enemy in the eye before scorching them from the face of the battlefield.

Monitor Swarm – £13.00
It is in the inherent Scourge Lifespan that the Monitor’s menace comes to the fore. This is because Monitors are in fact old Minders pushed to the end of their sanity but endless guarding of the skies with little outlet for their lust for destruction.
When Scourge parasites are not implanted into human hosts they are joined with military constructs (such as hunters, reapers, and all other Scourge vehicles and aircraft). How the determination as to which parasite is assigned which construct is made is unclear. What is clear is that those implanted into Minders are little more than mobile gun emplacements to the aliens, rarely able to inflict damage and pain on enemies or satiate the cruel whims of the parasite itself.
It is theorised that this is one of the reason that Minders are most often used in kamikaze core overload attacks – the parasites themselves are thought to be almost ecstatic at the idea of inflicting pain and ending their own.
Monitors take this idea to its logical conclusion. Re-fitted with modest ant-tank weaponry, they will take every opportunity to visit destruction on the enemy. If this proves ineffective they will kamikaze themselves into hostile vehicles, happy to go down in a final blaze of spiteful glory after so many years as little more than barrage balloons.

Seraphim Retaliator – £12.00
New operational parameters and a changing landscape have meant new thinking for many UCM designs. The production of the Seraphim Retaliator is a direct response to these changes, most notable in topography and enemy tactics. The Seraphim was originally designed to test Human Plasma weaponry and deliver a structure-levelling payload, and is frighteningly effective at both.
However, battlefronts such as Star Casablanca on Eden Prime and the outskirts of Granum on Elysium Prime are either too spread out or too densely populated with structures to make a single strike worthwhile.
The Retaliator has a more obtuse approach. Instead of attacking singular buildings or ground targets, it saturates an area with a deadly payload of multiple high-explosive missiles. This is highly effective against enemy armour and dug-in units alike, and has a sweeping (if unsubtle) destructive impact on multiple small structures in one area. The crew can then trigger the Havenfire system to mop up any unit’s hardy – or foolhardy – enough to be in the target area.

Thunder Wagon – £11.50
The Resistance have always proven themselves nothing if not inventive. If a problem presents itself, they will adapt, avoid, adjust…or smash it to pieces. The Thunder Wagon is a clear example of the ‘Smash it to Pieces’ problem solving strategy. They take position behind the front line, co-ordinate with forward scouts and then deploy their Golgotha Missiles one at a time, causing untold havoc to the enemy. The missiles themselves are un-subtle weapons of destruction, tipped with heavy armour plating and packed with explosives. Even the most effective countermeasures are little proof against the weight of a Golgotha Missile, which spreads death and destruction over a wide area even if detonated before impact.
Needless to say the effect on structures is equally awe inspiring and horrific, ripping huge chunks of masonry, superstructure and support out of even the largest building, and often reducing smaller buildings to little more than rubble with one hit.
