I am honored to announce that Dark Sword Miniatures will be represented in the Limited Edition and Ultra Limited Edition “A Game of Thrones” 20th Anniversary Boxed sets. When George phoned me a number of months ago letting me know that he wanted Dark Sword to be part of this special event, the wheels started turning right away for both of us. It was initially thought that we would simply provide a couple of our standard miniatures for the sets. This was a fine idea, but then I got thinking – why not design two brand new exclusive miniatures that are one piece casts on integrated bases so folks not in the miniatures hobby can take them right out of the package and put them up on their shelf to enjoy? George and the fine team at Penguin Random House were thrilled with this idea, so we ran with it.
We landed on Lord Commander Jon Snow of the Night’s Watch and Queen Daenerys Targaryen for the two exclusive miniatures we wanted to create for this set. The legendary Hall of Fame sculptor Tom Meier did the sculpting honors once again for these two exclusive pewter miniatures. These are hand sculpted at actual size under a microscope, not created on a computer screen or sculpted at a “3 up size” and then shrunk down later during the production process. They are true works of art created by a skilled artisan that are then hand cast in lead-free pewter metal and carefully inspected before they are packaged up.
These miniatures are sized to fit right in with the rest of the George R.R. Martin Masterworks Miniature line from Dark Sword Miniatures. These are the actual sculpt (or “green” as they called) pictures. They show off all of the ultra-fine details worked into each miniature. Hmm, Dany hätte ich ehrlich gesagt erst für Margery Tyrell gehalten. Jon Schnee geht aber so in Ordnung. Mal auf die bemalten Versionen warten…
Also ich erkenne die Charaktere nicht anhand der Minis. Schade.
Dark Sword bringt schon seit einigen Jahre Minis zu den Büchern ASoIaF heraus, nicht zu der TV-Serie. Entsprechend sind die Minis hier wohl an der eigenen Reihe bzw. den Büchern angelehnt und nicht den Darstellern der Serie.
Die Darksword Miniaturen sind keine Nachbildungen der Darsteller aus der HBO Serie. Die Darksword Reihe ist älter. Wenn du also Sean Bean suchst wirst du sicher enttäuscht sein.
Das „GoT“ der News-Überschrift hier ist irreführend, da es auf den Titel der Fersehserie verweist. Diese ganze Geschichte bezieht sich allerdings auf „*A* Game of Thrones“, den ersten Band der Romanserie (anlässlich des Jubiläums seiner Erstveröffentlichung).
Dass Dark Swords Versionen üblicherweise unter ASoIaF laufen (Romanreihe bzw. Welt an sich), sollte klar sein.
Wie akkurat deren Interpretationen sind, wie passend man sie findet oder wie sehr oder wenig sie einem sonstwie zusagen sind dann noch ganz andere Geschichten. 😉
Ah ok, ich war deswegen auch verwirrt. Die Serie heißt ja Game of Thrones mit der griffigen GoT Abkürzung, während die Bücher ja allgemein mit ASoIaF abgekürzt werden. Dann sind natürlich Parallelen zu den Serienschauspielern nicht zu erwarten…
Der Kopf der Mutter der Drachen ist leider zu gross.
Ansonsten aber eine sehr ausdrucksstarke Miniatur!
