Tide of Iron: Next Wave & Stalingrad Kickstarter

Tide of Iron Cover

1A Games launches the NEXT WAVE of Tide of Iron: a new quick-start intro set – and a Stalingrad expansion that covers city fighting.

The Next Wave for the Tide of Iron Series

1A Games’s Stalingrad expansion for the World War Two tactical board game series Tide of Iron (TOI) introduces players to the unprecedented, vicious street fighting that came to symbolize the brutality of what the Soviet Union called its Great Patriotic War. You must have the TOI starter set in order to play the Stalingrad expansion. Don’t have the starter set yet? You can get the new „Next Wave“ edition with special quick-start scenarios and some new, additional items (explained below) as a reward at the REGIMENT or CORPS levels.

Still the Same Great Game

If you already own Tide of Iron, the rules and components for the Stalingrad expansion were designed to work with the existing game system. 1A’s „Next Wave“ version of Tide of Iron does not change the game system. It introduces new quick-start scenarios and presents the same original core rules, but in a way that is designed to get you playing the game faster. The old TOI and „Next Wave“ versions are totally compatible.

What’s Inside the Stalingrad Box

The Stalingrad expansion includes a full complement of Soviet infantry, the German StuG III E and Panzer III (German infantry are needed from the TOI core game), the Soviet T-34/76 medium tank, and introduces the Soviet T-70 light tank (larger tank image middle right below not to scale) to the TOI series – 90 plastic figures, bases, and vehicles.

The Stalingrad expansion also includes 12 new double-sided urban terrain map boards that show factories, debris-filled streets, major buildings, and even sewer covers that allow access and movement underneath the city ruins.

What’s Inside the „Next Wave“ Tide of Iron starter set

The new TOI Next Wave starter set includes a few new items, but it faithfully reprints the same tokens, same reference charts, and same core rules published originally by Fantasy Flight Games. It includes double-sided geomorphic map boards depicting French countryside, the same original plastic pieces representing American and German infantry, and same original German and U.S. tanks and armored half-tracks. Everything you need to fight World War Two tactical battles on a tabletop.

And 1A’s Next Wave TOI starter set is totally compatible with the existing FFG TOI expansions as well as 1A’s new Stalingrad expansion.
